divat so'rthapramitau karaṇamityapyanālocitavacanaṃ naiyāyikānāṃ svapramitāvasādhakatamasyārthapramitau

mānatvāt tathāhi
yadasannidhāne kārakāṃtarasannidhāne'pi yannopapadyate tat tatkaraṇakaṃ yathā kuṭhārāsannidhāne kāṣṭachedanama
nutpadyamānaṃ kuṭhārakaraṇakaṃ notpadyate ca bhāveṃdriyāsamavadhāne'rthasaṃvedanamupakaraṇasadbhāve'pi iti tadbhāveṃdri
yakaraṇakaṃ bahiḥkaraṇasannikarṣādhīnatāyāṃ hi padārthasaṃvedanasya nayanasannikarṣāt kalaśa iva nabhasi nāyana
saṃvedanodayaḥ kuto na bhavet na hi nayananabhasoranyatarakarmajaḥ saṃyogo na vidyate eveti vaktuṃ yuktaṃ
sakalamūrtimaddravyasaṃyogānnabhasi sarvagatatvasādhanavirodhāt na ca nayanamamūrtimadeva tasya parairbhautikatayo
pagatatvāt paudgalikatayāsmābhirupakaraṇasyābhimatatvāt nanu nabhasi nayanasannikarṣasya yogyatāvirahānna
saṃvedananimittatā ityapi na sādhīyaḥ tadyogyatāyā eva sādhakatamatvānuṣaṃgāt kā ceyaṃ sannikarṣasya yogya
tā nāma viśiṣṭā śaktiriti cet sā tarhi sahakārisannidhilakṣaṇā anumaṃtavyā
sahakārisāṃnidhyaṃ śaktiḥ
ityuddyotakaravacanāt sahakārikāraṇaṃ ca dravyaṃ guṇaḥ karmā
di vā syāt na tāvadātmadravyaṃ sahakāri tatsannidhānasya nayananabhaḥsannikarṣe'pi samānatvāt ete
na kāladravyaṃ digdravyaṃ ca sahakāri nirākṛtaṃ tatsānnidhyasyāpi sarvasādharaṇatvāt manodravyaṃ sahakāri
ityapi na saṃgataṃ tatsannidherapi samānatvāt kadācittadgatamanasaḥ puruṣasyākṣārthasannikarṣasya saṃbhavāt
etena ātmā manasā yujyate mana iṃdriyeṇa iṃdriyamartheneti catuṣṭayasannikarṣo'rthapramitau sādhakatama iti
sāmigrīṃpramāṇavādo dūṣitaḥ tatsāmigryāśca nabhasi sadbhāvāt kālādinimittakāraṇasāmigrīvat yadi
punastejodravyaṃ sahakāri tatsannidhānāt cākṣuṣādijñānaprabhavāditi mataṃ tadāpi na viśeṣaḥ ghaṭādāviva
gagane'pi locanasannikarṣasyālokasannidhiprasiddheḥ saṃvedanānuṣaṃgasya durnivāratvāt athādṛṣṭaviśeṣo
guṇaḥ sahakārī tatsānnidhyaṃ saṃyuktasamavāyena cakṣuṣā saṃyukte puruṣe tvadṛṣṭaviśeṣasya samavāyāt iti manyadhvaṃ
tarhi kadācinnabhasi nāyanaṃsavedanodayaḥ kuto na bhavet sarvadā sarvasya tatrādṛṣṭaviśeṣasya sahakāriṇo'sa
nnidhānāt iti cet kathamevamīśvarasya nabhasi cakṣuṣā jñānaṃ śrotrādibhiriva ghaṭate samādhiviśeṣopajani
tadharmaviśeṣānugṛhītena manasā gaganādyaśeṣapadārthasaṃvedanodaye tu maheśvarasya bahiḥkaraṇamanarthakatāmiyāt
phalāsaṃbhavāt bahiḥkaraṇarahitasya ca nāṃtaḥkaraṇamupapadyeta paranirvṛttātmavat tataḥ kathamaṃtaḥkaraṇena dharmā
digrahaṇaṃ manaso'saṃbhave ca na samādhiviśeṣastadupajanitadharmaviśeṣo vā ghaṭāmaṭāṭyate tasyātmāṃtaḥkaraṇasaṃ
yoganibaṃdhanāt
syānmataṃ śiśiraraśmiśekharasya samādhiviśeṣasaṃtatirdharmaviśeṣasaṃtatiśca sarvārthajñānasaṃtatiheturanā
dyaparyavasānā satatamenomalairaspṛṣṭatvāt tasya saṃsārisādi muktivilakṣaṇatvāt sarvathā muktatayaiva prasiddha
tvāt iti tadapyasamīcīnaṃ evamīśvarasyāpi enomalavilayāderevārthasaṃvedanodbhavaprasakteḥ satatamenomalā
bhāvo hi yathā satatamarthajñānasaṃtānahetururarīkriyate tathā kādacitkainomalābhāvaḥ kadācidarthapramitinimitta
yuktamutpaśyāmaḥ tasyaiva sannikarṣasahakāritopapatteḥ tatsānnidhyasyaiva ca sannikarṣaśaktirūpatvasiddheḥ tadbhāvādeva
ca nayanasannikarṣe'pi nabhasi saṃvedanānutpattighaṭanāt tatra viśiṣṭadharmo'pi na pāpamalāpāyādaparaḥ
pratipadyate bhāvāṃtarasvabhāvatvādabhāvasya niḥsvabhāvasya sakalapramāṇagocarātikrāṃtatvena vyavasthāpayitumaśakya
tvāt iti puruṣaguṇaviśeṣasadbhāva eva pāpamalābhāvo vibhāvyate sa cātmaviśuddhiviśeśo jñānāvaraṇavīryāṃtarāya
kṣayopaśamabhedaḥ svārthapramitau śaktiryogyateti ca syādvādavedibhirabhidhīyate pramāturupalabdhilakṣaṇaprāpta
tāpi nātorthāṃtarabhāvamanubhavati puṃsaḥ saṃvedanāvaraṇavīryāṃtarāyalakṣaṇapāpamalāpagamavirahe kvacidupalabdhilakṣaṇa
prāptatānupalabdheḥ nayanonmīlanādikarmaṇo dṛśyādṛśyayoḥ sādhāraṇatvāt pradyotādikaraṇasākalyavat etena
nayanonmīlanādikarmasānnikarṣasahakāriviṣayagataṃ copalabhyatvasāmānyamiti pratyākhyātaṃ tatsannidhāne satya
pi kvacitkasyacit pramityanupapatteḥ kālākāśādivat na hi tatropalabhyatvasāmānyamasaṃbhāvyaṃ yogino
'pyanupalabdhiprasaṃgāt asmādṛśāpekṣayopalabhyatvasāmānyamanyadeva yogīśvarāpekṣādupalabhyatāsāmānyāditi
cet tatkimanyat anyatra yogyatāviśeṣāt pratipuruṣaṃ bhedamāstighnuvānāditi sa eva pramātuḥ pramityu
tāviśeṣaḥ svārthagrahaṇaśaktiḥ ātmano bhāvakaraṇaṃ jñānameva phalarūpatvāt svārthajñānātkathaṃcidabhinnatvāt
sarvathāpi tato bhede nātmasvabhāvatvopatteḥ na caivamupagaṃtuṃ yuktaṃ ātmana evobhayanimittavaśāttathāpariṇā
māt ātmano hi jānātyaneneti karaṇasādhanāt bhedopavarṇanaṃ kathaṃ cidabhinnakartṛkasya karaṇasya prasiddheḥ
agnirauṣṇyena dahatīṃdhanamiti yathā svātaṃtryavivakṣāyāṃ tu jānātīti jñānamātmaiva kartṛsādhanatvāttadātmajñā
nayorabhedaprādhānyāt ātmana eva svārthagrahaṇapariṇāmamāpannasya jñānavyapadeśasiddheḥ auṣṇyapariṇāmamāpa
nnasyāgnerauṣṇyavyapadeśavat tena jñānātmā jñānātmanā jñeyaṃ jānāti iti vyavahārasya pratītisiddhatvāt yathā ca
jñānātmaiva pramātā syāt ajñānātmanaḥ khādeḥ pramātṛtvāyogāt tathā jñānātmaiva pramāṇaṃ svārthapramitau jñāna
kriyātmikāyāṃ karaṇātvāt ajñānātmanastatra sādhakatamatvāghaṭanānnājñāne pramāṇaṃ anyatropacārataḥ tato
nājñānena iṃdriyasannikarṣaliṃgaśabdādinā sādhanasya vyabhicāraḥ nāpi vyatirekāsiddhiḥ samyagjñānatvasya
sādhyasya nivṛttau pramāṇatvasya sādhanasya paṭādau vinivṛttiviniścayāt kevalavyatirekiṇo'pi sādhanasya
samarthanāt tataḥ sūktaṃ samyagjñānameva pramāṇamajñānasya pramāṇatvāyogānmithyājñānavaditi
kiṃ punaḥ samyagjñānaṃ abhidhīyatesvārthavyavasāyātmakaṃ samyagjñānaṃ samyagjñānatvāt yattu na svārthavyavasāyā
tmakaṃ tanna samyagjñānaṃ yathā saṃśayaviparyāsānadhyavasāyāḥ samyagjñānaṃ ca vivādāpannaṃ tasmātsvārthavyavasāyātmakamiti
suniścitānyathānupapattiniyamaniścayalakṣaṇo hetuḥ prasiddha eva samyagavabodhādīnāṃ sādhyadharmiṇi sadbhāvāt sva
saṃvedaneṃdriyamanoyogipratyakṣaiḥ samyagjñānaiḥavyavasāyātmakairvyabhicārī hetuḥ iti svamanorathamātraṃ saugatasya teṣāṃ
samyagjñānatvavirodhāt samyagjñānatvaṃ hyavisaṃvādakatvena vyāptaṃ tadabhāve tadasaṃbhavāt tadapi pravartakatvena vyāptaṃ
tadabhāve tadasaṃbhavāt tadapyarthaprāpakatvena arthaprāpakasyāvisaṃvaditvāt nirviṣayajñānavat tadapi pravarta
katvena vyāptaṃ apravartakasyārthāpratyāyakatvāt tadvat pravartakatvamapi viśvaviṣayopadarśakatvena vyāptaṃ svaviṣayamu
padarśayataḥ pravartakavyavahāraviṣayatvasiddheḥ na hi puruṣaṃ haste gṛhītvā jñānaṃ pravartayati svaviṣayaṃ rūpaṃ darśayat
pravartakamucyate arthaprāpakaṃ ca ityavisaṃvādakaṃ samyagvedakaṃ pramāṇaṃ tadviparītasya mithyājñānatvaprasiddheḥ saṃśaya
vaditi dharmottaramataṃ tatrāvyavasāyātmakasya caturvidhasyāpi samakṣasya samyagvedanatvaṃ na vyavatiṣṭhate tasya
svaviṣayopadarśakatvā'siddheḥ tatsiddhau vā nīlādāviva kṣaṇakṣayādāvapi tadupadarśakatvaprasakteḥ tato yada
vyavasāyātmakaṃ jñānaṃ na tatsvaviṣayopadarśakaṃ yathā gacchataḥ tṛṇasparśasaṃvedanaṃ adhyavasāyi prasiddhamavyavasāyātmakaṃ
ca saugatābhimatadarśanamiti vyāpakānupalabdhiḥ siddhā vyavasāyātmakasya vyāpakasyābhāve tadvyāpyatvasya
svaviṣayopadarśakatvasyānanubhavāt
syādākutaṃ tena vyavasāyātmakatvena svaviṣayopadarśakatvasya vyāptiḥ siddhimadhivasati tasya vyavasā
yajanakatvena vyāptatvāt nīladhavalādau vyavasāyajananāddarśanasya tadupadarśakatvavyavasthiteḥ kṣaṇakṣayasvarga
prāpaṇaśaktyādau vyavasāyājanakatvāt tadanupadarśakatvavyavasthānāt gacchattṛṇasparśasaṃvedanasyāpi tata eva
svaviṣayopadarśakatvābhāvasiddheḥ mithyājñānatvavyavahārāt anyathānadhyavasāyitvāghaṭanāt iti tadetadavi
cāritaramaṇīyaṃ tāthāgatasya vyavasāyo hi darśajanyaḥ sa kiṃ darśanaviṣayasyopadarśako'nupadarśako vā
iti vicāryate yadyupadarśakastadā sa eva tatra pravartakaḥ prāpakaśca syāt saṃvādakatvāt samyaksaṃvedanavat
na tu tannimittaṃ darśanaṃ sannikarṣādivat athānupadarśakaḥ kathaṃ darśanaṃ tajjananāt svaviṣayopadarśakaṃ
atiprasaṃgāt saṃśayaviparyāsakāraṇasyāpi svaviṣayopadarśakatvāpatteḥ darśanaviṣayasāmānyādhyavasāyitvādvi
kalpatajjanakaṃ darśanaṃ svaviṣayopadarśakamiti ca na cetasi sthāpanīyaṃ darśanaviṣayasāmānyasyānyāpohalakṣaṇa
syāvastutvāt tadviṣayavyavasāyajanakasya vastūpadarśakatvavirodhāt dṛśyasāmānyayorekatvādhyavasāyādvastūpa
darśaka eva vyavasāya ityapi mithyā tayorekatvādhyavasāyāsaṃbhavāt tadekatvaṃ hi darśanamadhyavasyati tatpṛṣṭhajo
vyavasāyo vā jñānāṃtaraṃ vā na tāvaddarśanaṃ tasya vikalpāviṣayatvāt nāpi tatpṛṣṭhajo vyavasāyaḥ tasya
dṛśyāgocaratvāt tadubhayaviṣayaṃ jñānāṃtaraṃ tu nirvikalpakaṃ vikalpātmakaṃ vā na tāvannirvikalpakaṃ tasya dṛśya
vikalpyadvayaviṣayatvavirodhāt nāpi vikalpātmakaṃ tata eva naca tad dvayāviṣayaṃ saṃvedanaṃ tadubhayaikatvamadhyava
sātuṃ samarthaṃ tathāhi yadyanna viṣayī kurute na tattadekatvamadhyavasyati yathā rasasaṃvedanaṃ sparśarūpobhayaṃ na
viṣayī kurute ca dṛśyavikalpyobhayaṃ kiṃcitsaṃvedanaṃ iti na kutaściddṛśyavikalpyayorekatvādhyavasāyaḥ siddhyet
tato na vyavasāyo vastūpadarśakaḥ syāt nāpi tadupajananāddarśanaṃ svaviṣayavastūpadarśakaṃ yogipratyakṣasya vidhū
takalpanājālasya sarvadā vastuvikalpājanakatvāt tadupadarśakatvavirodhāt svasaṃvedanamapi na tasya svarūpopa
darśakaṃ tadvikalpānutpādakatvāt iti kutaḥ svarūpasya svato gatiravatiṣṭheta kiṃ ca darśanapṛṣṭhabhāvino
vikalpasya svasaṃvedanavalātsiddhau tatsvasaṃvedanaṃ kutaḥ pramāṇaṃ syāt tadyadi svarūpopadarśanādeva pramāṇamā
sthīyate tadā svargaprāpaṇaśaktyādāvapi pramāṇatāmāskaṃdet tat svasaṃvidākāra eva pramāṇaṃ tadvyavasāya
jananātna punaranyatreti parikalpanāyāṃ tadvyavasāyasvasaṃvedanasyāpi vyavasāyāṃtaropajananāt svarūpopadarśa
nena bhavitavyamityanavasthānāt nādyavyavasāyasvasaṃvedanasya prāmāṇyaṃ tadaprāmāṇye ca na tata eva vyavasāya
siddhiḥ tadasiddhau ca na tajjananāddarśanasya svaviṣayopadarśakatvaṃ tadabhāve ca na tasya pravartakatvaṃ apravarta
kasya nārthaprāptinimittatvaṃ tadasaṃbhave ca nāvisaṃvādakatvaṃ tadvirahe ca na samyagjñānatvaṃ svasaṃvedaneṃdriyamano
yogijñānānāmiti na tairvyabhicāraḥ sādhanasya saṃbhavati
syānmataṃ arthasāmarthyādutpattiarthasārūpyaṃ ca darśanasya svaviṣayopadarśakatvaṃ tacca sakalasamakṣaveda
nānāmavyavasāyātmakatve'pi saṃbhavatpravartakatvamarthaprāpakatvamavisaṃvādakatvaṃ samyagjñānalakṣaṇamiti taiḥ samīcī
nairjñānairvyabhicāra eva hetoriti tadapi durghaṭameva kṣaṇakṣayādāvapi tadupadeśakatvaprasaṃgāt tatrākṣaṇika
tvādisamāropānupraveśādayoginaḥ pratipatturnopadeśakatvamavatiṣṭhate yoginastu samāropāsaṃbhavāt kṣaṇakṣayādā
vapi darśanaṃ tadupadeśakameveti samādhānamapi na dhīmaddhṛtikaraṃ nīlādāvapyayoginastadviparītasamāropaprasakteḥ
kathamanyathā viruddhadharmādhyāsāttaddarśanabhedo na bhāvet na hi abhinnamekadarśanaṃ kvacitsamāropākrāṃtaṃ kvacinneti
vaktuṃ yuktaṃ tato yadyatra viparītasamāropaviruddhaṃ tattatra niścāyātmakaṃ yathānumeye'rthe'numānajñānaṃ viparītasamāro
paviruddhaṃ ca nīlādau darśanamiti vyavasāyātmakameva buddhyāmahe niścayahetutvāddarśanaṃ nīlādau viparītasamā
ropaviruddhaṃ na punarniścayātmakatvāt tato'nyathānupapattiḥ sādhanasyāniściteti māmaṃsthāḥ yogipratyakṣe'sya
viparītasamāropasya prasaṃgāt tena tasyāvirodhāt pareṣāṃ tu tasyāpi niścayātmakatvāttena virodhaḥ siddha eva
tathā niścayahetunā darśanena viruddhaṃ pratipādayataḥ svamatavirodhaḥ syāt niścayāropamanasorbādhyabādhakabhāva iti
dharmakīrterabhimatatvāt darśanāropayorvirodhābhāvasiddheḥ nanu cārthadarśanasya niścayātmakatve sādhye pratyakṣavi
rodhaḥ saṃhṛtasakalavikalpadaśāyāṃ rūpādidarśanasyāniścayātmakasyānubhavāt taduktaṃ
saṃhṛtya sarvataściṃtāṃ stimitenāṃtarātmanā
sthito'pi cakṣuṣā rūpamīkṣate sākṣajā matiḥ iti
tathānumānavirodho'pi vyucchittaciṃtāvasthāyāṃiṃdriyādarthagatau kalpanānupalabdheḥ tatra kalpanāsa
dbhāve punastatsmṛtiprasaṃgaḥ tadā vikalpitakalpanāvat tadapyuktaṃ
punarvikalpayan kiṃcidāsīnme kalpanedṛśī
iti vetti na pūrvoktāvasthāyāmiṃdriyādgatau iti
tadetadapi dharmakīrteraparīkṣitābhidhānaṃ pratyakṣato nirvikalpadarśanāprasiddhatvāt saṃhṛtasakalavikalpā
vasthā hyaśvaṃ vikalpayato godarśanāvasthā na ca tadā godarśanamavyavasāyātmakaṃ punaḥ smaraṇābhāvaprasaṃgāt
tasya saṃskārakāraṇatvavirodhāt kṣaṇikatvādivat vyavasāyātmana eva darśanāt saṃskārasya smaraṇasya
ca saṃbhavāt anyatastadanupapatteḥ daduktaṃ
vyavasāyātmano dṛṣṭeḥ saṃskāraḥ smṛtireva vā
dṛṣṭe dṛṣṭasajātīye nānyathā kṣaṇikādivat
atha mataṃ abhyāsaprakaraṇabuddhipāṭavārthitvebhyo nirvikalpakādapi darśanānnīlādau saṃskāraḥ smaraṇaṃ
cotpadyate na punaḥ kṣaṇikādau tadabhāvāt vyavasāyātmano'pi pratyakṣāttata eva saṃskārasmaraṇopapatteḥ
teṣāmabhāve niścite 'pi vastuni niyamena saṃskārāderabhāvāt teṣāṃ vyavasāyātmakasamakṣavādino'pi niyamato
bhyupagamanīyatvāt iti tadapi phalguprāyaṃ bhūyodarśanalakṣaṇasyābhyāsasya kṣaṇakṣayādau sutarāṃ sadbhāvāt
punapunarvikalpotpādarūpasya cābhyāsasya paraṃ pratyasiddhatvāt tatraiva vivadāt kṣaṇikākṣaṇikavicāraṇāyāṃ kṣaṇi
kaprakaraṇasyāpi bhāvāt buddhipāṭavaṃ tu nīlādau kṣaṇakṣayādau ca samānaṃ taddarśanasyānaṃśatvāt tatra pāṭavā
pāṭavayorbhede tadbuddherapi bhedāpatteḥ viruddhadharmādhyāsāt tathāvidhatadvāsanākhyakarmavaśādbuddheḥ paṭavāpāṭave syātāṃ
ityapyanenāpāstaṃ tatkarmasadbhāvayorapi viruddhadharmayoranaṃśabuddhāvekasyāmasaṃbhavāt yatpunararthitvaṃ jijñāsitatvaṃ
tatkṣaṇikavādinaḥ kṣaṇikatve'styeva nīlādivat yatpunarabhilaṣitṛtvamarthitvaṃ tanna vyavasāyajanananibaṃdhanaṃ
kvacidanabhilaṣite'pi vastuni kasya cidudāsīnasya smaraṇapratīteḥ iti nābhyāsādibhyaḥ kvacideva saṃskāra
jananaṃ anaṃśajñānajñeyavādino ghaṭate parasya tu bahiraṃtaranekātmakatattvavādino na kiṃcidanupapannaṃ sarvathai
katra vyavasāyāvyavasāyayoḥ avāyānavāyākhyayoḥ saṃskārāsaṃskārayoḥ dhāraṇetarābhidhānayoḥ smaraṇāsmaraṇa
yoścānabhyupagamāt tadbhedātkathaṃcidbodhabodhyayorbhedaprasiddheḥ
saugatasyāpi vyāvṛttibhedādbhedopagamādadoṣoyaṃ tathāhinīlatvamanīlatvavyāvṛttiḥ kṣāṇikatvamakṣaṇikatvavyā
vṛttirucyate tatrānīlavyāvṛttau nīlavyavasāyastadvāsanāprabodhādutpanno na punarakṣaṇikavyāvṛttau kṣaṇikavyavasāya
statra tadvāsanāprabodhābhāvāt na cānayorvyāvṛttyorabhedaḥ saṃbhavati vyāvartyamānayorabhedaprasaṃgāt na ca tadbhedādva
stuno bhedaḥ tasya niraṃśatvāt anyathā anavasthāprasaṃgāt iti pare manyaṃte tepi na satyavādinaḥ svabhāvabhedābhābave
vastuno vyāvṛttibhedāsaṃbhavāt nīlasvalakṣaṇaṃ hi yena svabhāvenānīlādvyāvṛttaṃ tainaiva yadyakṣaṇikādvyāvarteta
tadā nīlākṣaṇikayorekatvāpattestadvyāvṛttyorekatvaprasaṃgaḥ svabhāvāṃtareṇa tattato vyāvṛttamiti vacane tu siddhaḥ
svalakṣasya svabhāvabhedaḥ kathaṃ nirākriyate yadi punaḥ svabhāvabhedo'pi vastuno tatsvabhāvavyāvṛttyā
kalpita eveti mataṃ tadā parikalpitasvabhāvāṃtarakalpanāyāmanavasthānuṣajyeta tathāhianīlasvabhāvā
nyavyāvṛttirapi svabhāvāṃtareṇa anyavyāvṛttirūpeṇa vaktavyā sāpi tadanyavyāvṛttisvabhāvāṃtareṇa tathāvidhe
neti na kvacid vyavatiṣṭhate
kaścidāha tata eva sakalavikalpavāggocarātītaṃ vastu vikalpaśabdānāṃ viṣayasyānyavyāvṛtti
rūpasya anādyavidyopakalpitasya sarvathā vicārā 'sahatvāt vicārasahatve vā tadavastutvavirodhāt iti
sopi na samyagvādī darśanaviṣayasyāpyavastutvaprasaṃgāt tasyāpi śabdavikalpaviṣayavat vicārāsahatvāviro
dhāt tathāhi nīlasvalakṣaṇaṃ sugatetaraṃjanadarśanaviṣayatāmupagacchat kimekena svabhāvena nānāsvabhāvena
vā dṛśyaṃ syāt tadyadyekena svabhāvena tadā yadeva sugatadṛśyatvaṃ tadevetarajanadṛśyatvamityāyātaṃ aśeṣasya
jagataḥ sugatatvaṃ yaccetarajanadṛśyatvaṃ tadeva sugatadṛśyatvamiti sakalasya sugatasyetarajanatvāpatteḥ sugata
rahitamakhilaṃ syāt athaitasmāddoṣādvibhyatā nānāsvabhāvena sugatetarajanadṛśyatvaṃ pratipādyate tadā nīla
svalakṣaṇasya dṛśyasvabhāvabhedaḥ kathamapahnuyeta na ca dṛśyaṃ rūpamanekaṃ kalpitamiti śakyaṃ vaktuṃ dṛśyasya
kalpitatvavirodhāt atha manyethāḥ svalakṣaṇasya dṛśyatvaṃ svākārārpakatvavyāvṛttirūpaṃ nānādṛṣṭṝvyapekṣayā'nekaṃ
ghaṭāmaṭatyeva tadabhāve nānādṛṣṭadarśanaviṣayatāṃ svalakṣaṇaṃ nāskaṃdet na ca paramārthato darśanaṃ dṛśyaviṣayaṃ
sarvajñānāṃ svarūpamātraparyavasitatvāt upacārādeva bahirviṣayatāvyavahārāt iti tadapyasat vastunaḥ svā
kārārpakatvasyāpi pūrvaparyanuyogānatikramāt taddhi svalakṣaṇaṃ yena svabhāvena sugatadarśanāya svākārama
rpayati tenaivetarajanadarśanāya svabhāvāṃtareṇa vā yadi tenaiva tadā tadeva sugatetarajanadarśanaikatvamāpanīpa
dyate tathā ca sarvasya sugatatvaṃ itarajanatvaṃ vā durnivāratāmācanīskaṃdyate svabhāvāṃtareṇa svākārārpakatve
sa eva vāstavaḥ svabhāvabhedaḥ svalakṣaṇasyākṣuṇṇtayā kathaṃ pratikṣipyate yatpunaḥ svākārārpakatvamapi na
vastunaḥ paramārthapathaprasthāṃyi samavasthāpyate svarūpamātraviṣayatvāt sakalasaṃvedanānāmiti mataṃ tadapi
durupapādameva teṣāṃ vaiyarthyaprasagāṃt jñānaṃ hi jñeyaprasiddhyarthaṃ prekṣāvatāmanviṣyate prakāśyaprasiddhyarthaṃ pradīpā
divat na punaḥ svarūpaprasiddhyarthaṃ pradīpavadeveti bahirarthāviṣayatve sakalasaṃvedanānāṃ kathamiva vaiyarthyaṃ
na syāt nirviṣayasvapnādisaṃvedanānāmapi sārthakatvaprasaṃgāt svarūpaprakāśanasya prayojanasya sarvatra
bhāvāt kiṃ ca sugatasaṃvedanasyāpi svarūpamātraparyavasitāyāṃ kathamiva sugataḥ sarvadarśīṣyate pṛthagjanavat
pṛthagjano vā kathaṃ na sarvadarśī sugatavadanumanyeta svarūpamātraparyavasitāyāḥ tatsaṃvedane'pi sadbhāvāt
yadi punarvāstavatvaṃ sakalaveditvaṃ tāthāgatasyorarīkriyate saṃvṛttyā tasya vyavahāribhiḥ saṃvyavaharaṇāt
tadavyaharaṇe tadvacanasya satyatāvyavahārānupapatteḥ sakalajñānarahitapuruṣopadeśādvipralaṃbhanaśaṃkanaprasaṃgāt
taduktaṃ
jñānavān mṛgyate kaścittaduktapratipattaye
ajñopadeśakaraṇe vipralaṃbhanaśāṃkibhiḥ iti
pratipadyeta tathāpi sugatetaravyavahārasiddhiḥ sugatavaditarajanasyāpi saṃvṛttyā sakalaveditvakalpa
nānuṣaṃgāt sakalapadārthebhyaḥ sugatasya saṃvedanodayāt sakalārthajñatā yuktā kalpayituṃ na punaritara
janasya pratiniyatapadārthādeva tadvedanotpatteriti cet na sugatajñānasyāṃpi sakalapadārthajanyatvāsiddheḥ
samasamayavartipadārthajanyatvāsaṃbhavāt yadi punaranādyatītapadārthebhyo bhaviṣyadanaṃtārthebhyaḥ sāṃpratikārthe
bhyaśca sakalebhyaḥ sugatasaṃvedanasyotpattiḥ akhilāvidyātṛṣṇāvināśādupapadyata eva asmadādisaṃveda
nādviśiṣṭatvāttasyeti mataṃ tadā kimekena svabhāvena kālatrayavartipadārthaiḥ sugatavijñānamutpadyate
nānāsvabhāvairvā yadyekena svabhāvena ekenārthena sugatajñānamupajanyate tenaiva sakalapadārthaiḥ tadā
sakalapadārthānāmekarūpatāpattiḥ sugatavijñānasya vā tadekapadārthajanyatvasiddhiriti netarajana
saṃvedanāttasya viśeṣaḥ siddhyet athānyena svabhāvenaikārthaḥ sugatajñānamupajanayati padārthāṃtarāṇi tu svabhāvāṃ
taraistadupajanayaṃti iti matirbhavatāṃ tarhi sugatajñānamanaṃtasvabhāvamekamāyātaṃ tadvatsakalaṃ vastu kathamanaṃtātma
katāṃ na svīkuryāditi ciṃtanīyaṃ ekasyanekasvabhāvatvavirodhānnaikamanekātmakamiti cet kathamidānīṃ
sugatavijñānamekapadārthajanyaṃ nānārūpatāṃ vibharti yadi punaratajjanyarūpavyāvṛttyā tajjanyarūpaparikalpanānna
tattvataḥ sugatasaṃvedanamanekarūpatākrāṃtamityākūtaṃ tadā na paramārthataḥ suddhodanitanayavijñānamakhilapadārtha
janyaṃ iti kutaḥ pṛthagjanasaṃvedanādasya viśeṣaḥ samavatiṣṭhate tataḥ sugatavijñānadṛśyatāmitarajanavijñānaviṣa
yatāṃ ca ekasya nīlādisvalakṣaṇasyānekākārāmapi svayamurarīkurvatā nīlasvalakṣaṇakādirūpatāpi dṛśyādṛśya
tvalakṣaṇā svīkartavyā tathā ca nīlādau darśanamanyadvyavasāyātmakaṃ saṃskārasmaraṇakāraṇaṃ tadviparīdarśanādava
boddhavyaṃ iti na pratyakṣaprasiddhaṃ nirvyavasāyātmakatvamadhyakṣajñānasya nāpyanumānaprasiddhaṃ godarśanasamaye'śvaka
lpanāvat godarśanasyāpi vyavasāyātmakatvopapatteḥ punarvikalpayataḥ tadanusmaraṇasyānyathānupapatteḥ
tathā hi yannirvyavasāyātmakaṃ jñānaṃ tannottarakālamanusmaraṇajananasamarthaṃ yathā parābhimataṃ svargaprāpaṇaśaktyādi
darśanaṃ tathā cāśvavikalpakāle godarśanamiti tadanusmaraṇajananasamarthaṃ na syāt bhavati ca punarvikalpayata
stadanusmaraṇaṃ tasmādvyavasāyātmakamiti niścayaḥ tadevaṃ vyavasāyātmakatve sādhye samyagjñānaṃ sādhanaṃ
na vyabhicarati kasya cidapi samyagjñānasyāvyavasāyātmakatvapramāṇabādhitatvāditi sthitaṃ
ye tvāhuḥ svārthavyavasāyātmakatve sādhye samyagjñānasya hetorna prayojakatvaṃ sarvasya samyagjñānasyā
rthavyavasāyayamaṃtaraṇaiva samyagjñānatvasiddheḥ tathā hi vivādādhyāsitaṃ samyagjñānaṃ nārthavyavasāyātmakaṃ
jñānatvāt svavyavasāyātmakatvāt yadjñānaṃ svavyavasāyātmakaṃ vā tannārthavyavasāyātmakaṃ yathā svapnādijñānaṃ tathā
ca vipadāvannaṃ jñānaṃ jinapatimatānusāribhaḥ abhyanujñātaṃ tasmānnārthavyavasāyātmakamiti tepi na prātīti
kāvadinaḥ jāgṛddaśābhāvinaḥ samīcīnavijñānasyārthavyavasāyātmakatvapratīteḥ tasyārthāvyavasāyātmakatve
tato'rthe pravṛttyabhāvaprasaṃgāt pratīyate ca samyagjñānādarthe pravṛttiravisaṃvādinī tasmādarthavyavasāyātmakaṃ
tadarthe pravṛttyanyathānupapatteḥ mithyājñānādapyarthe pravṛttidarśanādanekāṃtaḥ iti cenna tasyāḥ pravṛttyābhāsa
tvāt vyavasitārthaprāptinimittatvābhāvāt vyavasitamarthaṃ prāpayituṃ samarthā hi saṃyak pravṛttiḥ sā ca mithyā
jñānānnopapadyata iti na vyabhicāraḥ yaccārthavyavasāyātmakatvanirākaraṇapravaṇamanumānaṃ tatsvārthaṃ vyavasyati vā
na vā prathamavikalpe tenaivānaikāṃtikaṃ sādhanamāpadyeta tasya jñānatve svavyavasāyātmakatve'pi svasādhyārtha
vyavasāyātmakatvasiddheḥ dvitīyavikalpe'pi nāto'numānādiṣṭasiddhiḥ svasādhyārthavyavasāyātmakatvāt anu
mānābhāsavat tataḥ kiṃ bahunā sarvasya kiṃcidiṣṭaṃ sādhayataḥ svayamaniṣṭaṃ vā dūṣayataḥ kutaścitpramāṇāt
tasyārthavyavasāyātmakatvābhyanujñānamavaśyaṃbhāvi tasyārthāvyavasāyātmakatve sveṣṭāniṣṭasādhanadūṣaṇānupapatteḥ para
prasiddhyārthavyavasāyinaḥ pramāṇasyābhyanujñānādadoṣa iti cet tarhi paraṃ pratipādyase vā na vā yadi na
pratipādyase kathaṃ paraprāsiddhyā kvacidabhyunujñānaṃ taṃ na pratipādyase tatprasiddhyā ca kiṃcidabhyanujānāsīti
kathamanunmattaḥ atha paraṃ pratipādyase tarhi yataḥ pramāṇāttatpratipattiḥ tatsvakīyārthavyavasāyātmakaṃ siddhaṃ
tasyāvyavasāyātmakatve tena parapratipatterayogāt yadi punaḥ parābhyupagamāṃtarātparapratipattiriti mataṃ tadāpya
nivṛttaḥ paryanuyogaḥ tasyāpi parābhyupagamāṃtarasya pratipattyapratipattipūrvakatve pūrvoktadūṣaṇānatikramāt
syānmataṃ na bahirarthāḥ paramārthataḥ saṃti tatpratyayānāṃ nirālaṃbanatvāt svapnapratyayavat satānāṃtaravi
jñānānāmapi asattvāt tatra svarūpamātravyavasāyātmakameva vijñānamiti tadapyasāraṃ tathāhi sarvapratya
yānāṃ nirālaṃbanatvaṃ na tāvatpratyakṣataḥ siddhyati tasya tadviṣayatvāt vivādāpannāḥ pratyayā nirālaṃbanā eva
pratyayatvāt svapneṃdrijālādivaditi anumānānnirālaṃvanatvasiddhiṃrityapi mithyā svasaṃtānapratyayena vyabhicārāt
tasyāpi saṃtānāṃtarapratyayavatpakṣīkaraṇe kimidamanumānajñānaṃ svasādhyārthālaṃbanaṃ nirālaṃbanaṃ vā prathamapakṣe tenaivā
naikāṃtikatvaṃ pratyayatvaṃ dvitīyakalpanāyāṃ nāto nirālaṃbanatvasiddhiḥ parabrahmasvarūpasiddhireva sakalabhedapratyayānāṃ
nirālaṃbanatvasiddhiḥ ityapi na vyavatiṣṭhate parabrahmaṇa evāprasiddheḥ taddhi svato vā siddhyet parato vā
na tāvatsvata eva vipratipattyabhāvaprasaṃgāt parataścedanumānādāgamādvā yadyanumānāt kimatrānumānamityabhi
dhīyatāṃ vivādāpanno'rthaḥ pratibhāsāṃtaḥ praviṣṭa eva pratibhāsamānatvāt yo yaḥ pratibhāsamānaḥ sa sa prati
bhāsāṃtaḥ praviṣṭa eva dṛṣṭaḥ yathā pratibhāsasyātmā pratibhāsamānaśca sakalo'rthaścetanācetanātmako vivādāpannaḥ
tasmātpratibhāsāṃtaḥpraviṣṭha evetyanumānaṃ na samyak dharmihetudṛṣṭāṃtānāṃ pratibhāsāṃtaḥpraviṣṭatve sādhyāṃtaḥpāti
tvena anumānotthānāyogāt pratibhāsāṃtaḥ praviṣṭatvābhāve taireveti hetorvyabhicārāt yadi punaranādyavi
dyāvāsanāvalāddharmihetudṛṣṭāṃtāḥ pratibhāsabahirbhūtā iva niścīyaṃte pratipādyaprātipādakasabhyasabhāpatijanavat
tato'numānamapi saṃbhavatyeva sakalānādyavidyāvilāsavilaye tu pratibhāsāṃtaḥpraviṣṭamakhilaṃ pratibhāsameveti vipra
tipattyasaṃbhavāt pratipādyapratipādakabhāvābhāvāt sādhyasādhanabhāvānupapatterna kiṃcidanumānopanyāsaphalaṃ sva
yamanubhūyamāne parabrahmaṇi pratibhāsātmani deśakālākāravacchinnasvarūpe nirvyabhicāre sakalakālāvasthāvyāpi
nianumānāprayogāt iti samabhidhīyate tadā sāpyanādyavidyā yadi pratibhāsāṃtaḥpraviṣṭā tadāvidyaivā kathamasaṃtaṃ
dharmidṛṣṭāṃtādibhedamupadarśayet atha pratibhāsabahirbhūtāstadā sā'pratibhāsamānā pratibhāsamānā vā na tāva
dapratibhāsamānā bhede pratibhāsarūpatvāt tasyāḥ pratibhāsamānā cet tayaiva hetorvyabhicāraḥ pratibhāsa
bahirbhūtatve'pi tasyāḥ pratibhāsamānatvāt
syādākūtaṃ na pratibhāsamānā nāpratibhāsamānā na pratibhāsabahirbhūtā nāpi pratibhāsāṃtaḥpraviṣṭā
naika nacānekā na nityā nāpyanityā na vyabhicāriṇī nāpyavyabhicāriṇī sarvathā vicāryamāṇāyogāt
sakalavicārātikrāṃtasvarūpaiva rūpāṃtarābhāvāt avidyayā nīrūpatālakṣaṇatvāt iti tadetadapyavidyāvi
jṛṃbhitameva tathāvidhanīrūpatāsvabhāvāyāḥ kena cidavidyāyāḥ kathaṃcidapratibhāsamānāyāḥ vaktumaśakteḥ
pratimāsamānāyāstu tathāvacane kathamasau sarvathā nīrūpā syāt yena svarūpeṇa yaḥ pratibhāsate tasyaiva
tadrūpatvāt tathā sakalavicārātikrāṃtatayā kimasau vicāragocarā avicāragocarā vā syāt prathamakalpa
nāyāṃ sakalavicārātikrāṃtatayā vicārānatikrāṃtatvābhgupagamavyāghātaḥ dvitīyakalpanāyāṃ na sakalavicārā
tikrāṃtatā vyavatiṣṭhate sakalavicārātikrāṃtatāyāmapi tasyāstayā vyavasthāne sarvathaikānekarūpatāyā api
vyavasathānaprasaṃgāt tasmātsatsvabhāvaivāvidyābhyupagaṃtavyā vidyāvat tathā ca vidyā'vidyādvaitaprasiddheḥ
kutaḥ paramabrahmaṇo'numānātsiddhiḥ etenopaniṣadvākyātparamapuruṣasiddhiḥ pratyākhyātā sarvaṃ vai khalvidaṃ
brahmetyādivākyasya paramātmanoṃ'rthāṃtarabhāve dvaitaprasakteraviśeṣāt tasyānādyavidyātmakatve'pi pūrvoditadūṣaṇa
prasaṃgāt tato na paramapuruṣādvaitasiddhiḥ svataḥ parato vā yena samyagjñānaṃ svavyavasāyātmakameva na punararthavya
vasāyātmakaṃarthābhāvāditi vadan avadheyavacanaḥ syāt
yattu svapnajñānaṃ svavyavasāyātmakamevetyuktaṃ tadapi na saṃgataṃ tasya sākṣātparaṃparayā vārthavyavasāyātma
katvāghaṭanāt dvividho hi svāpnaḥ satyo'satyaśca tatra satyo devatākṛtaḥ syāt dharmādharmakṛto vā kasyacitsā
kṣādvyavasāyātmakaḥ prasiddhaḥ svapnadaśāyāṃ yaddeśakālākāratayārthaḥ pratipannaḥ punarjāgṛddaśāyāmapi taddeśa
kālākāratayaiva tasya vyavasīyamānatvāt kaścitsatyaḥ svapnaḥ paraṃparayārthavyavasāyī svapnādhyāyanigadi
tārthaprāpakatvāt taduktaṃ
yastu paśyati rātryaṃte rājānaṃ kujaraṃ hayaṃ
suvarṇaṃ vṛṣabhaṃ gāṃ ca kuṭaṃbaṃ tasya vardhate
iti kuṭuṃbavardhanāvinābhāvinaḥ svapne rājādidarśanasya kathamarthaniścāyakatā na syāt pāvakāvinā
bhāvidhūmadarśanavat dṛṣṭārthāvyavasāyātmakatvānna svapnabodho'rthavyavasāyī iti vacane laiṃgiko'pi bodho'rtha
vyavasāyī mābhūta tata tadvat anumānabādho'numitārthavyavasāyī saṃbhavatīti vacane svapnāgamagamyā
rthavyavasāyī svapnabodho'pi kathaṃ nābhyanujñāyate kadācidvyabhicāradarśanānnaivamabhyupagamaḥ kartuṃ suśakya
iti cenna deśakālākāraviśeṣaṃ yathārthāgamoditamapekṣyamāṇasya kvacitkadācitkathaṃcidvyabhicārābhāvāt
tadapekṣāvikalastu na samīcīnaḥ svapnaḥ tasya svapnābhāsatvāt pratipatturaparādhācca vyabhicāraḥ saṃbhāvyate na
punaranaparādhāt yathā cādhūmaḥ dhūmabuddhyā pratipadyamānasya tataḥ pāvakānumānaṃ vyabhicārīti pratipatturevāparādho
na dhūmasya dhīmadbhirabhidhīyate tathaivāsvapnaṃ svapnabuddhyādhyavasya tatastadviṣayādhyavasāyo na vyabhicaratīti na
svapnāgamasyāparādhaḥ pratipatterevāparādhāt yaḥ punarasatyaḥ svapnaḥ pittādyudrekajanitaḥ sa kimarthasāmānyaṃ
vyabhicarati arthaviśeṣaṃ vā na tāvadarthasāmānyaṃ deśakālākāraviśeṣāṇāmeva vyabhicārāt sarvatra sarvadā
sarvathārthasāmānyasya sadbhāvāt tadabhāve'rthaviśeṣeṣu saṃśayaviparyāsasvapnāyathārthajñānānāmanutpatteḥ na hi kiṃcid
jñānaṃ sattāmātraṃ vyabhicarati tasyānutpattiprasakteḥ tato'satyasvapnasyāpyarthasāmānyavyavasāyātmakatvasiddheḥ na
kiṃcid jñānamarthāvyavasāyātmakaṃ viśeṣaṃ tu yata eva vyabhicarati tata eva asatyaḥ kathamanyathā satyetaravya
vasthitiḥ syāt tasyāḥ svārthaviśeṣaprāptyaprāptinimittatvādityalaṃ prasaṃgena svavyavasāyātmakatvavat samyagjñāna
syārthavyavasāyātmakatvaprasiddheḥ
atrāparaḥ prāha samyagjñānamarthavyavasāyātmakameva na svavyavasāyātmakaṃ svātmani kriyāvirodhāt ekasya
jñānasyānekākārānupapatteḥ na hi jñānamekamākāraṃ karmatāmāpannaṃ vyavasyati karmātmanākāreṇeti vaktuṃ yuktaṃ
tābhyaṃ karmakaraṇākārābhyāṃ jñānasyābhede bhedaprasaṃgāt na hi bhinnābhyāṃ tābhyāmabhinnamekaṃ nāma atiprasaṃgāt
tayorvākārayorjñānādabhede bhedaprasaṃgāt nahyabhinnādabhinnayorbhedaḥsaṃbhāvyate atiprasaṃgāt evaṃ tābhyāṃ vijñānasya
bhedopagame na vijñānamātmanātmānaṃ vyavasyati parātmanā parātmana eva vyavasāyāt tau cākārau yadi jñānasyā
tmānau tadā jñānaṃ vyavasyati vā na vā prathamapakṣe kimekenākārāṃtareṇa dvābhyaṃ vā'kārāṃtarābhyāṃ tattau vyavasyeta
na tāvadekenākārāṃtareṇa virodhāt dvāmyāṃ vyavasyati iti cet tayorapyākārāṃtarayorjñānādabhedo bhedo vā syāt
ityanivṛttaḥ paryanuyogaḥ anavasthā ca mahīyasī kathaṃcidbhedaḥ kathaṃcidabhedaḥ kathaṃcidabhedaḥ ityubhayapakṣālaṃbanamapi ane
naivāpāstaṃ pakṣadvayanikṣiptadoṣānuṣaṃgāt pakṣāṃtarā'saṃbhavācceti so'pi na nyāyakuśalaḥ pratītyatilaṃghanāt
loke hi jñānasya svavyavasāyina evārthavyavasāyitvena pratītiḥ siddhā naceyaṃ mithyā bādhakābhāvāt
svātmāni kriyāvirodho bādhaka iti cet kā punaḥkriyā kimutpattirjñāptirvā yadyutpattiḥ sā svātmani viru
dhyatāṃ na hi vayamabhyanujānīmahe jñānamātmānamutpādayati iti
naikaṃ svasmātprajāyate
iti samaṃtabhadrasvāmibhirabhidhānāt atha jñāptiḥ kriyā sā svātmani viruddhā tadātmanaiva jñānasya svakā
raṇakalāpādutpādāt prakāśātmanaiva prakāśasya pradīpādeḥ na hi svakāraṇasāmigrītaḥ pradīpādiprakāśaḥ samupa
jāyamānaḥ svaprakāśātmanā notpādyata iti prātītikaṃ tatsvarūpaprakāśena prakāśāṃtarāpekṣāprasaṃgāt nacāyaṃ
pradīpādyālokaḥ kalaśādijñānaṃ svarūpajñānaṃ ca cakṣuṣojanayataḥ sahakāritvaṃ nātmasātkurute yena svaprakāśako
na syāt cakṣuṣaḥ sahakāritvaṃ hi pradīpādeḥ prakāśatvaṃ tacca kalaśādāviva svātmanyapi dīpādervidyata eveti
siddhā svātmani prakāśanakriyā tadvadvijñānasyārthaprakāśanamiva svaprakāśanamapyaviruddhamavabudhyatāṃ etena jñānaṃ
na svaprakāśakaṃ arthaprakāśakatvādityanumāmamāpastaṃ pradīpādinā hetoranekāṃtāt pradīpādiḥupacārāt
prakāśako na paramārthata iti tenāvyabhicāre cakṣurāderapi paramārthato'rthā'prakāśakatvāt sādhanaśūnyo dṛṣṭāṃtaḥ
jñānasyaiva paramārthato'rthaprakāśatvopapatteḥ tato jñānaṃ svaprakāśakaṃ arthaprakāśakatvāt yattu na svaprakāśakaṃ
tannārthaprakāśakaṃ dṛṣṭaṃ yathā kuḍyādikaṃ arthaprakāśakaṃ ca jñānaṃ tasmātsvaprakāśakamiti kevalavyatirekyanumāna
mavinābhāvaniyamaniścayalakṣaṇāddhetorutpadyamānaṃ niravadyameveti budhyāmahe cakṣurādibhiḥ paramārthato'rthaprakāśa
katvāsiddhestena sādhanasyānekāṃtikatānupapatteḥ kuḍyāderapi svāvinābhāvipadārthāṃtaraprakāśakatvāddhūmādivat
sādhanāvyatireko dṛṣṭāṃta ityapi samutsāritamanena tasyāpyupacārādarthaprakāśakatvasiddheḥ anyathā tajjanitavi
jñānavaiyarthyāpatteḥ yatpurjñānamātmānamātmanā jānātīti karmakaraṇākāradvayaparikalpanāyāmanavasthādidoṣā
nuṣaṃgo bādhakaṃ iti mataṃ tadapi na suṃdarataraṃ tathāpratītisiddhatvāt jātyaṃtaratvādākāravatorbhedābhedaṃ pratyane
kāṃtāt karmakaraṇākārayorjñānāṃt kathaṃcidabhedaḥ kathaṃcidbhedaḥ iti naikāṃtena bhedābhedapakṣopakṣiptado
ṣopanipātaḥ syādvādināṃ saṃlakṣyate naca kathaṃcidityaṃdhapadamātraṃ jñānātmanā tadabhedasya kathaṃcidabhedaśabde
nābhidhānāt karmakaraṇātmanā ca bheda iti kathaṃcidbhedadhvaninā darśitatvāt tathā ca jñānātmanā tada
bheda iti jñānabhedābhedastato bhinnasya jñānātmano'pratīteḥ karmakaraṇākāratayā ca bheda iti karmakaraṇā
kārāveva bhedasya dravyavyatiriktasyākārasyāpratīyamānatvāt iti yenātmanā jñānāt karmakaraṇākārayorabhedo
yena ca bhedastau jñānātkimabhinnau bhinnau vā iti na paryanuyogasyāvakāśo'sti yayā'navasthā mahīyasī saṃpra
sajyeta naca bhinnābhyāmeva karmakaraṇābhyāṃ bhavitavyamiti niyamo'sti karaṇasya bhinnakartṛkasyāpi darśanāt
bhinnakartṛkaraṇavat yathaiva hi devadattaḥ paraśunā chinatti kāṣṭamityatra devadattātkarturbhinnaṃ paraśulakṣaṇaṃ karaṇa
mupalabhyate tathāgnirdahati dahanātmanetyatrāgneḥ karturdahanātmalakṣaṇaṃ karaṇamabhinnamupalabhyata evaṃ dahanātmā
pyuṣṇalakṣaṇaḥ sa cāgnerguṇino bhinna eveti na maṃtavyaṃ sarvathā tayorvirodhe guṇaguṇībhāvavirodhāt sahyaviṃ
dhyavat guṇini guṇasya samavāyāt tayostadbhāva ityapi na satyaṃ samavāyasya kathaṃcidaviśvagbhāvāt anyatya
vicārāsahatvāt samityekībhāvenāvāyanamavagamanaṃ hi samavāyaḥ tacca samavāyanaṃ karmasthaṃ samaveyamānatvaṃ
samavāyitādātmyaṃ pratīyate kartṛsthaṃ punaḥ samavāyanaṃ samavāyakatvaṃ pramātustādātmyena samavāyinorgrāhakatvaṃ
na cānyā gatirasti kriyāyāḥ kartṛkarmasthatayaiva pratipādanāt tatra
karmasthā kriyā karmaṇo'nanyā kartṛsthā karturananyā
iti vacanāt tato nābhinnakartṛkaṃ karaṇamaprasiddhaṃ nāpi karma tasyāpi bhinnakartṛkasyevābhinnakartṛ
kasyāpi pratīteḥ yathaiva hi kaṭaṃ karotītyatra karturbhinna karmānumanyate tathā pradīpaḥ prakāśayatyātmānami
tyatra karturabhinnaṃ karma saṃpratīyata eva na hi pradīpātmā pradīpādbhinna eva pradīpasyāpradīpatvaprasaṃgāt ghaṭavat
pradīpe pradīpātmanobhinnasyāpi samavāyāt pradīpatvasiddhiriticet na apradīpe'pi ghaṭādau tatsamavāyaprasaṃ
gāt pratyāsattiviśeṣātpradīpātmanaḥ pradīpa eva samavāyo nānyatreti cet sa pratyāsattiviśeṣo'tra ko'
nyatra kathaṃcittādātmyāt tataḥ pradīpādabhinna eva pradīpātmā karmeti siddhamabhinnakartṛkaṃ karma tathā ca
jñānātmātmānamātmanā jānātīti na svātmani jñaptilakṣaṇāyāḥ kriyāyā virodhaḥ siddhaḥ yataḥ svavyavasāyā
tmakaṃ jñānaṃ na syāt
syānmataṃ arthajñānaṃ jñānāṃtaravedyaṃ prameyatvāt ghaṭādivadityanumānaṃ svārthavyavasāyātmakatvapratīterbā
dhakamiti tadapi phalguprāyaṃ maheśvarārthajñānena hetorvyabhicārāt tasya jñānāṃtarāvedyatve'pi prameyatvāt
yadi punarīśvarārthajñānamapi jñānāṃtarapratyakṣaṃasaṃvedyatvāt iti mitistadā tadapyarthajñānajñānamīśvarasya pratya
kṣamapratyakṣaṃ vā yadi pratyakṣaṃ tadā svato jñānāṃtarādvā svataścet prathamamapyarthajñānaṃ svataḥ pratyakṣamastu
kiṃ vijñānāṃtareṇa yadi tu jñānāṃtarātpratyakṣaṃ tadapīṣyate tadā tadapi jñānāṃtaraṃ kimīśvarasya pratyakṣamapratyakṣaṃ
veti sa eva paryanuyogo 'navasthānaṃ ca duḥśakyaṃ parihartuṃ yadi punarapratyakṣameveśvarārthajñānajñānaṃ tadeśvarasya
sarvajñatvavirodhaḥ svajñānasyāpratyakṣatvāt tadapratyakṣatve ca prathamārthajñānamapi na tena pratyakṣaṃ svayamapratyakṣeṇa
jñānāṃtareṇa tasyārthajñānasya sākṣātkaraṇavirodhāt kathamanyathā ātmāṃtarajñānenāpi kasyacitsākṣātkaraṇaṃ
na syāt tathā cānīśvarasyāpi sakalasya prāṇinaḥ svayamapratyakṣeṇāpīśvarajñānena sarvaviṣayeṇa sarvārthasākṣātka
raṇaṃ saṃgaccheta tataḥ sarvasya sarvārthaveditvāsiddheḥīśvarānīśvaravibhāgābhāvo bhūyate yadā cārthajñānamapi prathama
mīśvarasyāpratyakṣameva kakṣīkriyate tadā tenāpi svayamapratyakṣeṇa maheśvarasya sakalo'rthaḥ pratyakṣaṃ kathaṃ samarthyeta
tena sakalaprāṇigaṇasya sarvārthasākṣātkaraṇaprasaṃgasya tadavasthatvāt tadanena vādinā maheśvarasyāpi kiṃcijjña
tvaṃ sarvasya vā sarvajñatvamanujñātavyaṃ nyāyavalāyātatvāt tathābhyanujñāne vā naiyāyikasya naiyāyikatva
virodhaḥ kenāsya vāryeta yadi punarīśvarasya jñānaṃ sakalārthavadātmānamapi sākṣātkurute nityaikarūpatvat
kramabhāvyanekānityajñānopagame maheśvarasya sakṛtsarvārthasākṣātkaraṇavidhānāt sarvajñatvāvyavasthiteriti mataṃ
tadā kathamanenaivānaikāṃtiko heturna syāt syānmatireṣā yuṣmākamasmadādijñānāpekṣayārthajñānasya jñānāṃtaravedyatvaṃ
prameyatvena hetunā sādhyate tato neśvarajñānena vyabhicāraḥ tasyāsmadādijñānādviśiṣṭatvāt na hi viśiṣṭe dṛṣṭaṃ dharma
maviśiṣṭe'pi ghaṭayan prekṣāvattāṃ labhate iti sāpi na parīkṣāsahā jñānāṃtarasyāpi prajñānena vedyatve'navasthā
nuṣaṃgāt tasya jñānāṃtareṇa vedyatve tenaiva hetorvyabhicāraḥ na ca tadaprameyameva sarvasyeti vaktuṃ śakyaṃ
pratipattuḥ pramāṇavalāttadvyavasthānavirodhāt sarvajñajñānenāpi tasyāprameyatve sarvajñasya sarvajñatāvyāghātāt
tato'smadādijñānāpekṣayāpi na jñānaṃ jñānāṃtarapratyakṣaṃ prameyatvāddhetoḥ sādhayituṃ śakyaṃ jñānasya svārthavyavasā
yātmanaḥ pratyakṣasiddhatvācca pratyakṣabadhitapakṣatayā hetoḥ kālātyayāpadiṣṭatvaprasaṃgācca etenārthajñānena
jñānāṃtaravedye sādhye kālatrayatrilokavartipuruṣapariṣatsaṃprayuktasakalahetunikarasya kālātyayāpadiṣṭatvaṃ vyakhyātaṃ
tadanena yaduktamekātmasamavetānaṃtaravijñānagrāhyamarthajñānamiti tatsamutsāritaṃ
yo'pyāha na svārthavyavasāyātmakaṃ jñānaṃ parokṣatvāt arthasyaiva pratyakṣatvāt apratyakṣā no buddhiḥ
pratyakṣo'rthaḥ sa hi bahirdeśasaṃbaddhaḥ pratyakṣamanubhūyate jñāte tvarthe anumānādavagacchati buddhiriti sāvarabhāṣye
śravaṇāt tathā jñānasyārthavat pratyakṣatve karmatvaprasaṃgāt jñānāṃtarasya karaṇasyāvaśyaṃ parikalpanīyatvāt
tasya cāpratyakṣatve prathame ko'paritoṣaḥ pratyakṣatve tasyāpi pūrvavatkarmatāpatteḥ karaṇātmano'nyavijñānasya
parikalpanāyāmanavasthāyā durnivāratvāt tathaikasya jñānasya karmakaraṇadvayākārapratītivirodhācca na jñānaṃ
pratyakṣaṃ parīkṣakairanumaṃtavyamiti so'pi na yathārthamīmāṃsakatāmanusartumutsahate jñānasyāpratyakṣatve sarvārthasya
pratyakṣatvavirodhāt saṃtānāṃtarajñānenāpi sarvasyārthasya pratyakṣatvaprasaṃgāt tathā ca na kasyacitkadācidartha
pratyakṣaḥ syāt
syādākūtaṃ bhavatāṃ yasyātmano'rthe paricchittiḥ pradurbhavati tasya jñānena so'rthaḥ pratīyate na sarvasya
jñānena sarvo'rtha pratyakṣaḥ sarvasya pramātuḥ sarvatrārthe paricchitterasaṃbhavāt iti tadapi svagṛhamānyaṃ mīmāṃsa
kānāṃ kvacidarthaparicchitteḥ pratyakṣatvāpratyakṣatvavikalpānatikramāt sā hi na tāvatpratyakṣā jñānadharmakatvāt
karmatvenāpratītiśca karaṇajñānavat tasyāḥ karmatvenāpratītāvapi kriyātvena pratīteḥ pratyakṣatve karaṇa
jñānasya karmatvenāpratīyamānasyāpi karaṇatvena pratīyamānatvāt pratyakṣatvamastu karaṇatvena pratīyamānaṃ karaṇa
jñānaṃ karaṇameva syāt na pratyakṣaṃ karmalakṣaṇamiti cet tarhi padārthaparicchittirapi kriyātvena pratibhāsamānā
kriyeva syāt na pratyakṣā karmatvābhādāditi pratipattavyaṃ yadi punararthadharmatvādarthaparicchitteḥ pratyakṣateṣyate
tadā sārthaprākaṭyamucyate na caitadarthagrahaṇavijñānasya prākaṭyābhāve ghaṭāmaṭati atiprasaṃgāt na hyaprakaṭe
'rthajñāne saṃtānāṃtaravartinikarasya cidarthasya prākaṭyaṃ ghaṭate pramāturātmanaḥ svayaṃ prakāśamānasya pratyakṣasyārtha
paricchedakasya prākāṭyādarthe prākaṭyaṃ paricchittilakṣaṇaṃ saṃlakṣyate paricchitteḥ paricchedakasvarūpāyāḥ kartṛstha
yāḥ kriyāyā kartṛdharmatvādupacārādarthadharmatvavacanāt paricchidyamānatārūpāyāḥ paricchitteḥ karmasthāyāḥ
kriyāyā eva paramārthato'rthadharmatvasiddheḥ karaṇajñānadharmatānucchitterneṣyate eva cakṣuṣā rūpaṃ paśyati
devadatta ityatra cakṣuṣaḥ prākaṭyābhāve'pi arthaprākaṭyaṃ sughaṭameva loke'tīṃdriyasyāpi karaṇatvasiddheḥ iti
kecit samabhyamaṃsata mīmāṃsakāḥ te'pyaṃdhasarpavilapraveśanyāyena syādvādimatamevānupraviśaṃti syādvādibhirapi
svārthaparicchedakasya pratyakṣasyātmanaḥ kartṛsādhanajñānaśabdenābhidhānāt svārthajñānapariṇatasyātmana eva
svataṃtrasya jñānatvopapatteḥ sa hi jānātīti jñānamiti vyapadiśyate taddharmastu paricchittiḥ phalajñānaṃ kathaṃci
tpramāṇādbhinnamabhidhīyate yattu parokṣamatīṃdriyatayā karaṇajñānaṃ parairuktaṃ tadapi syādvādibhirbhāveṃdriyatayā
karaṇamupapayogalakṣaṇaṃ procyate
labdhyupayogau bhāveṃdriyaṃ
iti vacanāt tatrārthagrahaṇaśaktirlabdhiḥ
arthagrahaṇavyāpāra upayogaḥ iti vyākhyānāt kevalaṃ tasya kathaṃcidātmanoṃ'narthāṃtarabhāvādātmatayā pratyakṣa
tvopapatteḥ apratyakṣataikāṃto nirasyate iti prātītikaṃ parīkṣakairanumaṃtāvyaṃ ye tu manyaṃte nātmā pratyakṣaḥ karma
tvenāpratīyamānatvāt karaṇajñānavaditi teṣāṃ phalajñānahetorvyabhicāraḥ karmatvenāpratīyamānasyāpi phalajñānasya
prābhākaraiḥ pratyakṣatvavacanāt tasya kriyātvena pratibhāsamānāt pratyakṣatve pramāturapyātmanaḥ kartṛtvena prati
bhāsamānatvāt pratyakṣatvamastu tacca phalajñānaṃātmano'rthāṃtarabhūtamanarthāṃtarabhūtamubhayaṃ vā na tāvatsa
varthārthāṃtarabhūtamanarthāṃtarabhūtaṃ vā matāṃtarapraveśānuṣaṃgāt nāpyubhayaṃ pakṣadvayanigaditadūṣaṇānuṣakte kathaṃ
cidanarthāṃtaratve tu phalajñānādātmanaḥ kathaṃcipratyakṣatvamanivāryaṃ pratyakṣādabhinnasya kathaṃcidapratyakṣatvaikāṃtaviro
dhāt etenāpratyakṣa evātmeti prabhākaramatamapāstaṃ yasya tu karaṇajñānavatphalajñānamapi parokṣaṃ puruṣaḥ pratyakṣa
iti mataṃ tasyāpi puruṣātpratyakṣāt kathaṃcidabhinnasya phalajñānasya karaṇajñānasya ca pratyakṣatāpattiḥ kathaṃcitka
thamapakriyate tato na bhaṭṭamatamapi vicāraṇāṃ prāṃcati iti svavyāvasāyātmakaṃ samyagjñānaṃ arthaparicchittini
mittatvāt ātmavaditi vyavatiṣṭate netrālokādibhirvyabhicāraḥ sādhanasyeti na maṃtavyaṃ teṣāmupacārato'rtha
paricchittinimittatvavacanāt paramārthataḥ pramātuḥ pramāṇasya ca tannimittatvaghaṭanāt
atrāparaḥ kapilamatānusārī prāhana samyagjñānaṃ svavyavasāyātmakaṃ acetanatvāt ghaṭādivanat na tacceta
namanityatvāt tadvadanityaṃ cotpattinimittatvāt vidyudādivat yattu svasaṃvedyaṃ taccetanaṃ nityamanutpattidharmakaṃ
ca siddhaṃ yathā puruṣatattvamiti so'pi na nyāyavedī vyabhicārisādhanābhidhānāt utpattimattvaṃ hi tāvada
nityatāṃ vyabhicarati nirvāṇasyānaṃtasyāpyutpattimattvāt tathaivānityatvamacetanatvaṃ vyabhicarati puruṣabhogasya
kādācitkatvasya buddhyadhyavasitārthāpekṣasya cetanatve'pyanityatvasamarthanāt acetanatvaṃ tu samyagjñānasyāśuddhameva
tasmādacetanādvivekakhyātivirodhāt cetanasaṃsargāccetanaṃ jñānamityapi vārtaṃ śārīrāderapi cetanatvasaṃgāt
jñānasya cetanasaṃsargo viśiṣṭa iti cet sa ko'nyaḥ kathaṃcittādātmyāt tataścetanātmakameva jñānamanumaṃtavya
mityacetanamasiddhaṃ
yadapyabhyadhāyi sāṃkhyaiḥjñānamacetaṃ pradhānapariṇāmatvāt mahābhūtavaditi tadapi na śreyaḥ pakṣasya svasaṃ
vedanapratyakṣabādhitatvāt prativādinaḥ kālātyayāpadiṣṭatvācca sādhanasya tathānumānabādhitaḥ pakṣaḥ
paraṃ prati cetanaṃ jñānaṃ svasaṃvedyatvāt puruṣavat yattu na cetanaṃ na tatsvasaṃvedyaṃ yathā kalaśādīti vyati
rekaniścayāt nedamanumānamagamakaṃ jñānasya svasaṃvedyatvamasiddhaṃ iti cenna tasyāsvasaṃvedyatve arthasaṃvedanavi
rodhādityuktaprāyaṃ etena na svasaṃvedyaṃ vijñānaṃ kāyākārapariṇatabhūtapariṇāmatvāt pittādivaditi vadaṃścā
rvākaḥ pratikṣiptaḥ na cedaṃ sādhanaṃ siddhaṃ bhūtaviśeṣapariṇāmatvāsiddheḥ saṃvedanasya bāhyeṃdriyapratyakṣatvaprasaṃgāt
gaṃdhādivat sūkṣmabhūtaviśeṣapariṇāmatvāt na bāhyeṃdripapratyakṣaṃ jñānamiti cet sa tarhi sūkṣmaviśeṣaḥ
sparśādibhiḥ parivarjitaḥ svayamasparśādimān saṃvedanopādānahetuḥ sarvadā bāhyeṃdriyāviṣayaḥ kathamātmaiva nāmāṃ
tareṇa nigadito na bhavet tasya tato'nyatve bhūtacatuṣṭayavilakṣaṇatvāt tattvāṃtarāpattiradṛṣṭaparikalpanā ca
prasajyeta tathātmanaḥ pramāṇasiddhatvāt tatpariṇāmasyaiva jñānasya ghaṭanāt tata idaṃ vyavatiṣṭate svavyavasā
yātmakaṃ samyagjñānaṃ cetanātmapariṇāmatve satyarthaparicchedakatvāt yattu na svavyavasāyātmakaṃ na tattathā yathā
ghaṭaḥ tathā ca samyagjñānaṃ tasmātsvavyavasāyātmakaṃ iti samyagjñānalakṣaṇaṃ pramāṇasiddhaṃ
nanu pramāṇatattvasya prameyatattvavadupaplutatvāt na tattvataḥ kiṃcitpramāṇaṃ saṃbhavati iti kasya lakṣaṇamabhi
dhīyate lakṣyānuvādapūrvakatvāllakṣaṇābhidhānasya prasiddhaṃ lakṣyamanūdya lakṣaṇaṃ vidhīyata iti lakṣyalakṣaṇabhāvavādi
bhirabhyupagamāt iti kecidamaṃsata teṣāṃ tattvopaplavamātramiṣṭaṃ sādhayituṃ tadā sādhanamabhyupagaṃtavyaṃ tacca pramā
ṇameva bhavati tathā cedamabhidhīyatetattvopaplavavādino'pyasti pramāṇaṃ iṣṭasādhanānyathānupapatteḥ pramāṇā
bhāve'pīṣṭasiddhau sarvaṃ sarvasya yatheṣṭaṃ siddhyet ityanupaplutatattvasiddhirapi kiṃ na syāt sarvathā viśeṣābhāvāt
syādākūtaṃ na sveṣṭaṃ vidhiprādhānyena sādhyate yena tattvopaplavaṃ sādhayataḥ pramāṇasiddhiḥ prasajyeta kiṃ
tarhi parābhyupagatapramāṇāditattvanirākaraṇasāmarthyāt parīkṣakajanayatastattvopaplavamanusarati gatyaṃtarābhāvāt
tathāhi pramāṇatvaṃ kasya citkimaduṣṭakāraṇajanyatvena bādhārahitatvena vā pravṛttisāmarthyena vā arthakriyā
prāptinimittatvena vā vyavatiṣṭate na tāvadaduṣṭajanyatvena tasya pratyakṣato gṛhītumaśakteḥ karaṇakuśalāderapi
pramāṇakāraṇatvāt tasya cātīṃdriyatvopagamāt na cānumānamaduṣṭaṃ kāraṇamunnetuṃ samarthaṃ tadavinābhāviliṃ
gābhāvāt satyajñānaṃ liṃgamiti cet na parasparāśrayaṇāt sati jñānasya satyatve tatkāraṇasyāduṣṭatva
niścayāt tasminsati jñānasya satyatvasiddheḥ yadi punarbādhārahitatvena saṃvedanasya prāmāṇyaṃ sādhyate
tadā kiṃ kadācitkvacidbādhakānutpattyā tatsiddhirāhosvit sarvatra sarvadā sarvasya pratipatturbādhakānutpa
tteriti pakṣadvayamavatarati prathamapakṣe marīcikācakre salilasaṃvedanamapi pramāṇamasajyate dūrasthitasya ta
tsaṃvedanakāle kasya citpratipatturbādhakānutpatteḥ dvitīyapakṣe tu sakaladeśakālapuruṣāṇāṃ bodhakānutpattiḥ
kathamasarvavido'vaboddhuṃ śakyeta tattatpratipattuḥ sarvaveditvaprasaṃgāt yadi punaḥ pravṛttisāmarthyena jñānasya
prāmāṇyamunnīyate tadā pramāṇenārthamupalabdhavatastadarthe pravṛttiryadīṣyate taddeśopasarpaṇalakṣaṇā tasyāḥ
sāmarthyaṃ ca phalenābhisaṃbaṃdhaḥ sajātīyajñānotpattirvā tadetarāśrayadoṣo duruttaraḥ syāt sati saṃvedanapramā
ṇatvaniścaye tenārthapratipattau pravṛtteḥ tatsāmarthyasya ca ghaṭanāt pravṛttisāmarthyasya niścaye ca tenārthasaṃve
danasya pramāṇatvanirṇīteḥ prakārāṃtarāsaṃbhavāt athārthakriyānimittatvena saṃvedanaṃ pramāṇatāmāskaṃdati tadā
kutastasya tanniścayaḥ syāt pratipatturarthakriyājñānāditi cet kutastasya pramāṇatvasiddhiḥ paramārtha
kriyājñānāṃtarāccet kathamanavasthā na bhavet athādyasaṃvedanādevārthakriyājñānasya māṇyaṃ manyate tadā
parasparāśrayadoṣaḥ satyarthakriyājñānasya pramāṇatvaniścaye tadbalādādyasaṃvedanasyārthakriyāprāptinimittatvena
prāmāṇyaniścayastatprāmāṇyaniścayācca arthakriyāsaṃvedanasya pramāṇatāsiddhiḥ kāraṇāṃtarābhāvāt tato na
pramāṇatvaṃ vicāryamāṇaṃ vā vyavatiṣṭhate tadavasthānābhāve ca na prameyatvasiddhiḥ iti tadetatsakalaṃ pralāpamātraṃ
parābhimatapramāṇatattvanirākaraṇasya svayamiṣṭasya pramāṇamaṃtareṇa siddhyayogāt tasya svayamiṣṭatve sādhanānupapatte
paraparyanuyogamātrasya karaṇādadoṣo'yaṃ
paraparyanuyogaparāṇi hi bṛhaspateḥ sūtrāṇi
iti vacanāt sarvatra svātaṃtryābhāvādityetadapi yatkiṃcana bhāṣaṇameva kimaduṣṭakāraṇajanyatvena prā
māṇyaṃ sādhyate bādhārahitatvenevetyādi pakṣāṇāṃ kvacinnirṇayābhāve saṃdehābhāvāt paraparyanuyogāyogāt
syādākūtaṃ parābhyupagamāt tanniścayasiddheḥ saṃśayotpatteryuktaḥ praśnaḥ tathāhimīmāṃsakābhyupagamāt
tāvadaduṣṭakāraṇajanyatvaṃ bādhāvarjitatvaṃ ca nirṇītaṃ niścitatvāpūrvārthatvalokasammatatvavat taduktaṃ
tatrāpūrvārthavijñānaṃ niścitaṃ bādhavavarjitaṃ
aduṣṭakāraṇārabdhaṃ pramāṇaṃ lokasammataṃ iti
tathā pravṛttisāmarthyamapi naiyāyikābhyupagamānnirṇītaṃ
pramāṇato'rthapratipattau pravṛttisāmarthyādarthavatpramāṇaṃ
iti vacanāt tathārthakriyāprāptinimittatvamavisaṃvāditvalakṣaṇaṃ saugatābhyupagamānnirṇītameva pramāṇa
mavisaṃvādijñānaṃ arthakriyāsthitiḥ avisaṃvādanaṃ śabdo'pyabhiprāyanivedanāditi vacanāt tadidānīṃ cārvāka
matānusāreṇa saṃdihya paryanuyujyamānaṃ na kiṃcidupālaṃbhamarhati iti tadetadapi na vyavasthāṃ pratipadyate parābhyu
pagamasya pramāṇāpramāṇapūrvakatve saṃśayāpravṛtteḥ tathāhi yadi pareṣāmabhyupagamaḥ pramāṇapūrvakaḥ tadā kathaṃ saṃdehaḥ
pramāṇapūrvakasya nirṇītatvāt nirṇīteḥ saṃśayavirodhāt athāpramāṇapūrvakaḥ tathāpi na saṃdehaḥ pravartate tasya
kvacitkadācitkathaṃcit nirṇayapūrvakatvāt tannirṇayasyāpi pramāṇapūrvakatvāt pramāṇābhāve pramāṇyaniścayāt
tanniścayanibaṃdhanasya ca pramāṇāṃtarasyābhyastaviṣayatve sarvathā tadanupapatterityalaṃ prasaṃgena sarvasyeṣṭasya saṃsiddheḥ
pramāṇaprasiddherabādhanāt anyathātiprasaṃgasamarthanāditi etena sarvathā śūnyaṃ saṃvidadvaitaṃ puruṣadvaitaṃ śabdādvaitaṃ
vā samāśritya pramāṇaprameyabhāgaṃ nirākurvāṇāḥ pratyākhyātāḥ svayamāśritasya sarvathā śūnyasya saṃvidadvaitādervā
kathaṃcidiṣṭatve pramāṇasaṃsiddhervyavasthāpanāt tasyāpyaniṣṭatve tadvāditvavirodhāt pralāpamātrānusaraṇāpatteḥ
parīkṣakatvavyāghātāt iti tadevaṃ pramāṇatattvanirṇītau prameyatattvasiddhirnirbādhā vyavatiṣṭhata eva
nanu caiva pramāṇasiddhamapi kiṃ svataḥ pramāṇyamātmasātkurvīti parato vā na tāvatsvataḥ sarvatra sarvadā
sarvasya tadvipratipattyabhāvaprasaṃgāt nāpi parataḥanavasthānuṣagāt parāparapramāṇānveṣaṇāt kvacidavasthiterayo
gāt prathamapramāṇāddvitīyasya prāmāṇyasādhane dvitīyācca prathamasya parasparāśrayāṇāpatteḥ prakārāṃtarābhāvāditi
kecitte'pyasamīkṣitavacasaḥ saṃlakṣyaṃte svayamabhyastaviṣaye pramāṇasya svataḥ prāmāṇyasiddheḥ sakalavipratipattī
nāmapi pratipatturabhāvāt anyathā tasya prameye nissaṃśayaṃ pravṛttyayogāt tathānabhyastaviṣaye parataḥ pramāṇasya
prāmāṇyaniścayāt tanniścayanimittasya ca pramāṇāṃtarasyābhyastaviṣayatve svataḥ pramāṇatvasiddheḥ anavasthāpa
rasparāśrayaṇayoranavakāśāt tasyāpyanabhyastaviṣayatve parataḥ pramāṇādabhyastaviṣayāt svataḥsiddhaprāmāṇyāt
pramāṇatvaniścayāt sūdaramapi gatvā kasyacidabhyastaviṣayasya pramāṇasyāvaśyaṃbhāvitvāt anyathā pramāṇatadā
bhāsavyavasthānupapatteḥ tadabhāvavyavasthānupapattivat kutaḥ punaḥ pratipattuḥ kvacidviṣaye'bhyāsaḥ kvacidana
bhyāsaḥ syāt iti cet tatpratibaṃdhakadaśāviśeṣavigamābhyāṃ kvacidabhyāsānabhyāsau syātāṃ iti brūmahe
paridṛṣṭakāraṇavyabhicārādadṛṣṭasya kāraṇasya siddheḥ tannaḥ karma jñānāvaraṇavīryāṃtarāyākhyaṃ siddhaṃ tasya kṣayopaśamā
tkasya cit kvacidabhyāsajñānaṃ tatkṣayopaśamābhāve vā 'nabhyāsajñānamiti suvyavasthitaṃ pramāṇasya pramāṇyaṃ
suniścitāsaṃbhavadbādhakapramāṇatvāt svayamiṣṭavastuvat sarvatreṣṭasiddhestanmātranibaṃdhanatvādanyathā sarvasya tattva
parīkṣāyāmanadhikārāditi sthitametat
prāmāṇādiṣṭasaṃsiddhiranyathātiprasaṃgataḥ
prāmāṇyaṃ tu svataḥsiddhamabhyāsātparato'nyathā iti
evaṃ pramāṇalakṣaṇaṃ vyavasāyātmakaṃ samyagjñānaṃ parīkṣitaṃ tatpratyakṣaṃ parīkṣaṃ veti saṃkṣepādū dvitayameva vyavatiṣṭhate
sakalapramāṇānāmatraivāṃtarbhāvāditi vibhāvanāt paraparikalpitaikadvitryādipramāṇasaṃkhāniyame tadaghaṭanāt
tathāhiyeṣāṃ pratyakṣamekameva pramāṇaṃ na teṣāmanumānādipramāṇāṃtarasyāṃtarbhāvaḥ saṃbhavati tadvilakṣaṇatvāt
pratyakṣapūrvakatvādanumānādeḥ pratyakṣabhāvaḥ ityayuktaṃ pratyakṣasyāpi kvacidanumānapūrvakatvādanumānādiśvaṃtarbhāvaprasaṃ
gāt yathaiva hi dharmihetudṛṣṭāṃtapratyakṣapūrvakamanumānaṃ śrotrapratyayapūrvakaṃ ca śābdaṃ sādṛśyānanyathābhāvaniṣedhyādhāra
vastugrāhi pratyakṣapūrvakāṇi copamānārthāpattyabhāvapramāṇāni tathāanumānena kṛśānuṃ niścitya tatra pravarta
mānasya pratyakṣamanumānapūrvakaṃ rūpādrasaṃ saṃpratipadya rase rāsanasamakṣavat śabdācca mṛṣṭaṃ pānakamavagamya tatra pravṛttau
pratyakṣaṃ śābdapūrvakaṃ kṣīrasya saṃtarpaṇaśaktimarthāpattyādhigamya kṣīre pravṛttasya tadātmake pratyakṣamarthāpattipūrvakaṃ
gosādṛśyādgavayamavasāya taṃ vyavaharataḥ pratyakṣanumānapūrvakaṃ gṛhe sarpābhāvamabhāvapramāṇādvibhāvya praviśataḥ
pratyakṣamabhāvapūrvakaṃ pratīyate eva tataḥ pratyakṣameva gauṇatvādapramāṇaṃ na punaranumānādikaṃ tasyāgauṇatvāditi
śuṣke patiṣyāmi iti jātaḥ pātaḥ kardame
syādākūtaṃ na pratyakṣaṃanumānāgamārthāpattyupamānābhāvasāmagrīpūrvaṃkvaṃ tadabhāve'pi cakṣurādisāmagrīmātrā
ttasya prasūteḥ prasiddhatvāt tadabhāva eva abhāvaniyamāditi tadapyasat laiṃgikādīnāmapi pratyakṣapūrvakatvābhā
vāt liṃgaśabdānanyathābhāvasādṛśyapratiyogismaraṇādisāmagrīsadbhāva eva bhāvāt satyapi pratyakṣe svasāmi
gryabhāve'numānādīnāmabhāvāt tataḥ kiṃ bahunoktena pratiniyatasāmagrīprabhavatayā pramāṇabhedamabhimanyamāne
pratyakṣavadanumānādīnāmapi agauṇatvamanumaṃtavyaṃ pratiniyatasvaviṣayavyavasthāyāṃ parāpekṣāvirahāt yathaiva hi
pratyakṣaṃ sākṣātsvārthaṃ paricchittau nānumānādyapekṣaṃ tathānumānamanumeyanirṇītau na pratyakṣāpekṣamutprekṣate pratyakṣasya
dharmihetudṛṣṭāṃtagrahaṇamātre paryavasitatvāt nāpi śābdaṃ śabdapratipādye'rthe pratyakṣamanumānaṃ copekṣate tayoḥ śabda
śravaṇamātre śabdārthasaṃbaṃdhānumātre vyāpārāt natvarthāpattiḥ pratyakṣamanumānamāgamaṃ cāpekṣate abhāvopamānavat
tasyāśca pratyakṣādipramāṇapramitārthāvinābhāvinyadṛṣṭe'rthe nirṇayanibaṃdhanatvāt pratyakṣādīnāmarthāpattyutthāpaka
padārthaniścayamātre vyāvṛttatvāt nacopamānaṃ pratyakṣādīnyapekṣate tasyopameye'rthe niścayakāraṇe pratyakṣādi
nirapekṣatvāt pratyakṣādeḥ sādṛśyapratipattimātre 'nadhikārāt nacābhāvapramāṇaṃ pratyakṣādisāpekṣaṃ niṣedhyā
dhāravastugrahaṇe tasya sāmarthyāt paraṃparayānumānādīnāṃ pratyakṣapūrvakatvaṃ pratyakṣasyāpyanumānādipūrvakatvaṃ duḥśakyaṃ
parihartuṃ kathaṃ cāyaṃ pratyakṣaṃ pramāṇaṃ vyavasthāpayet svata eveti cet kimātmasabaṃdhi sarvasaṃbaṃdhi vā
prathamakalpanāyāṃ na sakaladeśakālapuruṣapariṣatpratyakṣaṃ pramāṇaṃ siddhyet dvitīyakalpanāyāmapi na svapratyakṣā
tsakalaparapratyakṣāṇāṃ prāmāṇyaṃ sādhayitumīśaḥ teṣāmanīṃdriyatvāt vādipratyakṣāgocaratvāt yadi punaḥ saka
lapuruṣapratyakṣāṇi svasmin svasmin viṣaye svataḥ prāmāṇyamanubhavaṃti iti mataṃ tadā kutastatsiddhiḥ
vivādādhyāsitāni sakaladeśakālavartipuruṣapratyakṣāṇi svataḥ prāmāṇyamāpadyaṃte pratyakṣatvāt yadyatpratyakṣaṃ
tattatsvataḥ prāmāṇyamāpadyamānaṃ siddhaṃ yathā matpratyakṣaṃ pratyakṣāṇi ca vivādādhyāsitāni tasmātsvataḥ prāmā
ṇyamāpadyaṃte sakalapratyakṣāṇāṃ svataḥprāmāṇyasādhane siddhamanumānaṃ pratyakṣatvena svabhāvahetunā pratyakṣasya svataḥ
prāmāṇyasādhanāt śiṃśupātvena vanaspateḥ vṛkṣatvasādhanavat pratipadyabuddhyā tathānumānavacanādadoṣa iti
cet pratipādyabuddhiṃ pratipadya apratipadya vā tayānumānaprayogaḥ syāt na tāvadapratipadya atiprasaṃgāt
pratipadya tadbuddhitayānumānaprayoge kutastatprapittiḥ vyavahārādikāryaviśeṣāditi cet siddhaṃ kāryātkā
raṇānumānaṃ dhūmātpāvakānumānavat yadi punarlokavyavahārāt pratipadyata evānumānaṃ laukāyatikaiḥ paralokā
devānumānasya nirākaraṇāt tasyābhāvāditi mataṃ tadāpi kutaḥ paralokādyabhāvapratipattiḥ na tāvatpratyakṣāt
tasya tadagocaratvāt nāsti paralokādiḥ anupalabdheḥ khapuṣpavaditi tadabhāvasādhane'nupalabadhilakṣaṇamanu
mānamāyātaṃ taduktaṃ dharmakīrtinā
pramāṇetarasāmānyasthiteranyadhiyogateḥ
pramāṇāṃtarasadbhāvaḥ pratiṣedhācca kasyacit iti
tataḥ pratyakṣamanumānamiti dve eva pramāṇe prameyadvaividhyāt na hyābhyāmarthaṃ parichidya pravartamāno'rtha
kriyāyāṃ visaṃvādyata iti pramāṇasaṃkhyāniyamaṃ saugatāḥ pratipadyaṃte teṣāmāgamopamānādīnāṃ pramāṇabhedānāma
saṃgraha eva teṣāṃ pratyakṣānumānayoraṃtarbhāvayitumaśakteḥ
syānmatireṣā bhavatāṃ tadarthasya dvaividhyāt dvayoraṃtarbhāvaḥ syāt dvividho hyarthaḥ pratyakṣaḥ parokṣaśca tatra
pratyakṣaviṣayaḥ sākṣātkriyamāṇaḥ pratyakṣaḥ parokṣaḥ punarasākṣātparicchidyamāno'numeyatvādanumānaviṣayaḥ sa hi
padārthāṃtarātsākṣātkriyamāṇāt pratipadyate tacca padārthāṃtaraṃ tena parokṣeṇārthena sabaddhaṃ pratyāyayituṃ samarthaṃ nāsaṃ
baddhaṃ gavāderapyaśvādeḥ pratītiprasaṃgāt saṃbaddhaṃ cārthāṃtaraṃ liṃgameva śabdādi tajjanitaṃ ca jñānamanumānameva
tato na parokṣe'rthe'numānādanyatpramāṇamasti śabdopamānādīnāmapi tathānumānatvasiddheḥ anyathā tato
'rthapratipattau atiprasaṃgāt iti tadetadapi na parīkṣākṣamaṃ pratyakṣasyāpi tathānumānatvaprasaṃgāt pratyakṣamapi
hi svaviṣaye saṃbaddhaṃ tatpratyāyanasamarthaṃ tatrāsaṃbaddhasyāpi tatpratyāyanasāmarthye sarvapratyakṣaṃ sarvasya nuḥ sarvārtha
pratyāyanasamarthaṃ syāditi kathamatiprasaṃgo na syāt yadi punaḥ saṃbaṃdhādhīnatvāviśeṣe'pi pratyakṣaparokṣārtha
pratipatteḥ sākṣādasākṣātpratibhāsabhedāt bhedo'bhyupagamyate pramāṇāṃtaratvena tadeṃdriyasvasaṃvedanamānasayogi
pratyakṣāṇāmapi pramāṇāṃtaratvānuṣaṃgaḥ pratibhāsabhedāviśeṣāt na hi yādṛśaḥ pratibhāso yogipratyakṣasya
viśadatamastādṛśo'kṣajñānasyāsti svasaṃvedanasya manovijñānasya vā yathābhūtaśca svasaṃvedanapratyakṣāṃtarmukho vi
śadataraḥ na tathābhūto'kṣajñānasya yādṛśaścākṣajñānasya bahirmukhaḥ sphuṭaḥ pratibhāso na tādṛśo manovi
jñānasyeti kathaṃ pramāṇāṃtaratā na bhavet atha pratibhāsaviśeṣe'pi taccaturvidhamapi pratyakṣameva na
pramāṇāṃtaraṃ tarhi pratyakṣānumānayoḥ pratibhāsabhedepi svaviṣayasaṃbaṃdhāviśeṣātva pramāṇāṃtaratvaṃ mābhūt yadi
punaḥ svaviṣayasaṃbaddhatvāviśeṣe'pi pratyakṣānumānayoḥ sāmagrībhedāt pramāṇāṃtaratvamurarīkriyate tadā śābdo
pamānādīnāmapi tata eva pramāṇāṃtaratvamurarīkriyatāṃ yathaiva hi akṣādisāmagrītaḥ pratyakṣaṃ liṃga
sāmagrīto'numānaṃ prabhavatīti tayoḥ sāmigrībhedaḥ tathāgamaḥ śabdasāmigrītaḥ prabhavati upamānaṃ sā
dṛśyasāmagrītaḥ arthāpattiśca parokṣārthāvinābhūtārthamātrasāmagryāḥ pratiṣedhyādhāravastugrahaṇapratiṣedhyasmara
ṇasāmagryaścābhāva iti prasiddhaḥ śābdādīnāmapi sāmagrībhedaḥ tata evākṣajñānādipratyakṣacatuṣṭayasya
prabhedaprasiddheḥ nahi tasyārthabhedo'sti sākṣātkriyamāṇasyārthasyāviśeṣāt tadvalliṃgaśabdādisāmagrībhedā
tparokṣārthaviṣayatvāviśeṣepyanumānāgamādīnāṃ bhedaprasiddhiriti nānumāne'ṃtarbhāvaḥ saṃbhavati tathā sādhya
sādhanasaṃbaṃdhavyāptipratipattau na pratyakṣaṃ samarthaṃ yāvān kaściddhūmaḥ sa sarvaḥ kālāṃtare deśāṃtare ca pāvaka
janmā anyajanmā vā na bhavati ityetāvato vyāpārān kartumasamarthatvāt sannihitārthamātrādutpatteravicārakatvāt
yogipratyakṣaṃ tatra samarthamiti cet na deśakālayogipratyakṣadvayānatikramāt deśayoginaḥ pratyakṣaṃ vyāpti
pratipattau samarthamityayuktaṃ tatrānumanavaiyarthyāt na hi yogipratyakṣeṇa sākṣātkṛteṣu sādhyasādhanaviśeṣeṣu
aśeṣeṣu phalavadanumānaṃ atha sakalayogipratyakṣeṇa vyāptipratipattāvadoṣa iti cenna uktadoṣasyātrāpi tad
vasthatvāt parārthaphalavadanumānamiti cet na tasya svārthānumānapūrvakatvāt svārthānumānābhāve ca yoginaḥ
kathaṃ parārthānumānaṃ nāma yadi punaḥ sakalayoginaḥ parānugrahāya pravṛttatvāt parānugrahasya ca śabdātmaka
parārthānumānamaṃtareṇa kartumaśakteḥ parārthānumānasiddhiḥ tasyāśca svārthānumānāsaṃbhave'nutpadyamānatvāt
svārthānumānasiddhirapi parapratipādanapravṛttasya saṃbhāvyata eveti mataṃ tadā sa yogī svārthānumāne caturārya
satyāni niścitya parārthānumānena paraṃ pratipādayan grahītavyāptikamagṛhītavyāptikaṃ vā pratipādayet yadi
gṛhītavyāptikaṃ tadā kutastena gṛhītā vyāptiḥ na tāvādiṃdriyasvasaṃvedanamanovijñānaisteṣāṃ tadaviṣaya
tvāt yogipratyakṣeṇa gṛhyate vyāptiḥ pareṇa tasyāpi deśayogitvāt iti cet tarhi yāvatasu sādhyasādhana
bhedeṣu yogipratyakṣaṃ deśayoginastāvatsu vyarthamanumānaṃ spaṣṭaṃ pratibhāteśvapi anumāne sakalayoginaḥ sarvatrā
numānaprasaṃgāt samāropavyavacchedārthamapi na tatrānumānaṃ yogipratyakṣaviṣaye samāropānavakāśāt sugata
pratyakṣaviṣayavat tato na gṛhītavyāptikaṃ paraṃ sakalayogī pratipādayitumarhati nāpyagṛhītavyāptikaṃ
atiprasaṃgāt iti parapratipādanānupapattiḥ tasyāṃ ca na parārthānumānaṃ saṃbhavati tadasaṃbhave cā na svārthā
numānamavatiṣṭhate sakalayoginastadavyavasthāne ca na sakalayogipratyakṣeṇa vyāptigrahaṇaṃ yuktimadhivasati
pratyakṣānupalaṃbhābhyāṃ sādhyasādhanayorvyāptipratipattirityapyanenāpāstaṃ pratyakṣeṇa vyāptipratipattinirākṛtau
pratyakṣāṃtaralakṣaṇenānupalaṃbhena tatpratipattinirākṛtisiddheḥ
yopyāha kāraṇānupalaṃbhāt kāryakāraṇabhāvavyāptiḥ vyāpakānupalaṃbhād vyāpyavyāpakabhāvaḥ sāka
lyena pratipadyata ityanumānasiddhā sādhyasādhanavyāptiḥ tathāhi yāvān kaściddhūmaḥ sa sarvopyagnijanmā mahā
hṛdādiṣvagneranupalaṃbhāddhūmābhāvasiddheriti kāraṇānupalaṃbhānumānaṃ yāvaṃtī śiṃśapā sā sarvā vṛkṣasvabhāvā
vṛkṣānupalabdhau śiṃśapātvābhāvasiddhe iti vyāpakānupalaṃbho liṃgaṃ etāvatā sākalyena sādhyasādhanavyāpti
siddhiḥ iti so'pi na yuktavādī tathānavasthānuṣaṃgāt kāraṇānupalaṃbhavyāpakānupalaṃbhayorapi hi svasā
dhyena vyāptirna pratyakṣataḥ siddhyet pūrvoditadoṣāsakteḥ parasmādanumānāttatsiddhau kathamanavasthā na syāt pratya
kṣānupalaṃbhapṛṣṭabhāvino vikalpāt svayamapramāṇakāt sādhyasadhānavyāptisiddhau kimakāraṇaṃ pratyakṣānumānapramā
ṇapoṣaṇaṃ kriyate mithyājñānādeva pratyakṣānumeyārthasiddhervyāptisiddhivat tasmādyathā pratyakṣaṃ pramāṇamicchatā
sāmastyena tatprāmāṇyasādhanamanumānamaṃtareṇa nopapadyate ityanumānamiṣṭaṃ tathā sādhyasādhanavyāptijñātapramā
ṇamaṃtareṇa nānumānotthānamasti iti tadapyanujñātavyaṃ taccohākhyamavisaṃvādakaṃ pramāṇāṃtaraṃ siddhamiti na pratya
kṣānumāne eva pramāṇe iti pramāṇasaṃkhyāniyamo vyavatiṣṭhate etena vaiśeṣikapramāṇasaṃkhyāniyamo pratyākhyātaḥ
syānmataṃ sādhyasādhanasāmānyayoḥ kvacidvyaktiviśeṣe pratyakṣata eva saṃbaṃdhasiddherna pramāṇāṃtaramanve
ṣaṇīyaṃ yāvān kaściddhūmaḥ sa sarvo'pi agnijanmānagnijanmā vā na bhavati ityūhāpohavikalpajñānasya pramāṇāṃ
taratvaṃ saṃbaṃdhagrāhisamakṣapramāṇaphalatvāt kvacidanumitānumāne sādhyasādhane ādityagamanaśaktirasti
gatimattvāt ādityo gatimān deśāddeśāṃtaraprāpteḥ devadattavat saṃbaṃdhabodhanibaṃdhanānumānaṃ phalavat tataḥ
pratyakṣamanumānamiti pramāṇadvayasaṃkhyāniyamaḥ kaṇacaramatānusāriṇāṃ vyavatiṣṭhata eveti tadapyasāraṃ savi
kalpakenāpi pratyakṣeṇa sākalyena sādhyasādhanasaṃbaṃdhagṛhītumaśakteḥ sādhyaṃ hi kimagnisāmānyaṃ agnivi
śeṣognisāmānyaviśeṣo vā na tāvadagnisāmānyaṃ siddhasādhyatāpatteḥ nāpyagniviśeṣastasyānanvayāt
banhisāmānyaviśeṣasya hi sādhyatve tena dhūmasya saṃbaṃdhaḥ sakaledeśakālavyāpyadhyakṣataḥ kathaṃ siddhyet
tathā tatsaṃbaṃdhāsiddhau ca yatra yatra yadā yadā dhūmopalaṃbhaḥ tatra tatra tadā tadā'gnisāmānyaviśeṣaviṣayamanu
mānaṃ nodayamāsādayet na hyanyathā saṃbaṃdhagrahṇamanyathānumānotthānaṃ nāmātiprasaṃgāt tataḥ saṃbaṃdhajñānaṃ pramā
ṇāṃtarameva pratyakṣānumānayostadaviṣayatvāt yaccoktaṃ pratyakṣaphalatvādūhāpohavijñānasyāpramāṇatvamiti tadapya
samyak viśeṣaṇajñānaphalatvādviśeṣyajñānasyāpramāṇatvānuṣaṃgāt hānopādānopekṣābuddhiphalakāraṇatvādviśeṣya
jñānasya pramāṇatve tata evohāpohavijñānasya pramāṇatvamastu sarvathā viśeṣābhāvāt pramāṇaviṣayatvapariśodhakatvā
nnohaḥ pramāṇamityapi vārtaṃ pramāṇaviṣayasyāpramāṇena pariṣodhanavirodhāt tathā tarkaḥ pramāṇaṃ pramāṇaviṣayapa
riśodhakatvāt yastu na pramāṇaṃ sa na pramāṇaviṣayapariśodhako dṛṣṭo yathā prameyo'rthaḥ pramāṇaviṣayapariśodhakaśca
tarkastasmātpramāṇamiti kevalavyatirekiṇānumānenānyathānupapattiniyamaniścayalakṣaṇena tarkasya pramāṇatvasiddheḥ
na vaiśeṣikāṇāṃ pramāṇadvayasaṃkhyāniyamaḥ siddhyet etena dvitricatuḥpaṃcaṣaṭpramāṇavādināṃ pramāṇasaṃkhyā
niyamaḥ pratidhvastaḥ saṃkhyānāṃ pratyakṣānumānābhyāmivāgamādapi sādhyasādhanasaṃbaṃdhāsiddheḥ tarkasya tatsiddhini
baṃdhanasya pramāṇāṃtaratvopapatteḥ naiyāyikānāṃ ca pratyakṣānumānāgamairivopamānenāpi liṃgaliṃgigrahaṇāsaṃbha
vāt prabhākarāṇāṃ ca pratyakṣānumānopamānāgamairiva arthāpattyāpi hetuhetumatsaṃbaṃdhasiddherasaṃbhavāt bhaṭṭamatā
nusāriṇāmapi pratyakṣānumānopamānāgamārthāpattibhiriva abhāvapramāṇenāpi vyāptiniścayānupapattestanniścayani
baṃdhanasyohajñānasya pramāṇāṃtarasya siddhiravaśyaṃbhāvinī duḥśakyā nirākartuṃ
nanūhaḥ svaviṣaye saṃbaddhe'saṃbaddho vā na tāvadasaṃbaddhastaṃ pratyāyayitumīśo'tiprasaṃgāt saṃbaddhaścet kuta
statpratipattiḥ na tāvatpratyakṣāt tasya tadaviṣayatvāt nāpyanumānādanavasthānuṣaṃgāt yadi punarūhāṃtarātta
tsaṃbaṃdhasiddhiḥ tadohāṃtarasyāpi svaviṣayasabaṃdhasidbhipūrvakatvāt tasyāścāparohanibaṃdhanatvāt saivānavasthā pramā
ṇāṃtarāttatsiddhau ca sa eva paryanuyogaḥ parāparapramāṇāṃtaraparikalpanānuṣaṃgāt kveyaṃ pramāṇasaṃkhyā vyavatiṣṭheteti
kecit teṣāmapi pratyakṣaṃ svaviṣayaṃ pratibodhayat tatsaṃbaṃdhaśca nānumānādeḥ siddhyati tasya tadaviṣayatvāt
pratyakṣāṃtarāttatsiddhau tatrāpi prakṛtaparyanuyoṃgānivṛtteḥ kathamanavasthā na syāt yataḥ pratyakṣaṃ pramāṇamabhyupagama
nīyamiti pratipadyāmahe
syānmatireṣā pratyakṣaṃ svaviṣayasaṃbaṃdhāvabodhanibaṃdhanaṃ prāmāṇyamātmasātkurute tasya svaviṣaye svayogyatā
balādeva pramāṇatvavyavasthiteḥ anyathā kvacidapūrvārthagrāhiṇaḥ pratyakṣasyāpramāṇatvānuṣaṃgāt iti sāpi na
sādhīyasī tathohasyāpi svayogyatāviśeṣasāmarthyādeva svaviṣayapratyāyanasiddherbhavadudbhāvitadūṣaṇavaiyarthyavyava
sthānāt yogyatāviśeṣaḥ punaḥ pratyakṣasyeva svaviṣayajñānāvaraṇavīryāṃtarāyakṣayopaśamaviśeṣa evohasyāpi prati
padyate sakalabādhakavaidhuryāt yathā ca pratyakṣasyotpattau mano'kṣādisāmigrī yogyatāyāḥ sahakāriṇī bahi
raṃganimittatvāt tathohasyāpi samudbhūtau bhūyaḥ pratyakṣānupalaṃbhasāmigrībahiraṃganimitabhūtānumanyate tadanvaya
vyatirekānuvidhāyitvādūhasyeti sarvaniravadyasiddhe cānumānapramāṇānyathānupapattyā tarkasya pramāṇatvepratyabhi
jñānaṃ pramāṇaṃ tarkapramāṇatvānyathānupapatteḥ na hyapratyabhijñāne viṣaye tarkaḥ pravartate atiprasaṃgāt naca gṛhīta
grahaṇātpratyabhijñānasyāpramāṇatvaṃ śakanīyaṃ tadviṣayasyāsmaryamāṇadṛśyamānaparyāyavyāpyekadravyasya smaraṇapratya
kṣāgocaratvāt apūrvārthagrāhitvāsiddheḥ nacedaṃ pratyakṣe'ṃtarbhavati pratyakṣasya vartamānaparyāyaviṣayatvāt
nāpyanumāne liṃgānapekṣatvāt na śābde śabdanirapekṣatvāt nopamāne sādṛśyamaṃtareṇāpi bhāvāt nārtha
pattau pratyakṣādipramāṇaṣaṭkavijñātārthapratipattimaṃtareṇāpi prādurbhāvāt nābhāve niṣedhyādhāravastugrahaṇena
niṣedhyasmaraṇena ca vinaivotpādāditi sarveṣāmekadvitricatuḥpaṃcaṣaṭpramāṇasaṃkhyāniyamaṃ vighaṭayati etena
smṛtiḥ pramānāṃtaramuktaṃ tasyāśca pratyakṣādiṣvaṃtarbhāvayitumaśakteḥ na cāsāvapramāṇameva saṃvādakatvāt kathaṃ
cidapūrvārthagrāhitvāt bādhābarjitatvāccānumānavaditi yeṣāṃ tu smaraṇamapramāṇaṃ teṣāṃ pūrvapratipannasya sā
dhyasādhanasaṃbaṃdhasya vācyavācakasaṃbaṃdhasya ca smaraṇasāmarthyādavyavāsthiteḥ kuto'numānaṃ śābdaṃ vā pramāṇaṃ
siddhyet tadaprasiddhau ca na saṃvādakatvāsaṃvādakatvābhyāṃ pratyakṣatadābhāsavyavasthitiriti sakalapramāṇa
vilopāpattiḥ tataḥ pramāṇavyavasthāmabhyanujānatā smṛtirapi pramāṇayitavyā iti na pareṣāṃ saṃkhyā
niyamaḥ siddhyet syādvādināṃ tu saṃkṣepātpratyakṣaparokṣavikalpāt pramāṇadvayaṃ siddhatyeva tatra sakalapramāṇa
bhedānāṃ saṃgrahāditi sūktaṃ
kiṃ punaḥ pratyakṣamityucyate viśadajñānātmakaṃ pratyakṣaṃ pratyakṣatvāt yattu na viśadajñānātmakaṃ tanna
pratyakṣaṃ yathānumānādijñānaṃ pratyakṣaṃ ca vivādādhyāsitaṃ tasmādviśadajñānātmakaṃ na tāvadatrāprasiddho dharmī
pratyakṣadharmiṇi kevalapratyakṣavādināmavipratipatteḥ śūnyasaṃvedanādvaitavādināmapi svarūpapratibhāsanasya
pratyakṣasyābhīṣṭeḥ pratyakṣatvasya hetorasiddhatāpi anena samutsāritā pratyakṣamicchadbhiḥ pratyakṣatvasya taddharmasya
svayamiṣṭatvāt pratijñārthaikadeśāsiddhatvaṃ sādhanasya syāditi cet kā punaḥ pratijñā tadekadeśo vā yasyā
siddhatvaṃ śaṃkyeta dharmadharmisasudāyaḥ pratijñā tadekadeśo dharmī heturyathā naśvaraḥ śabdo śabdatvāditi
tathā sādhyadharmaḥ pratijñaikadeśo yathā naśvaraḥ śabdo naśvaratvāt soyaṃ dvividho pratijñārthaikadeśāsiddhau hetuḥ
syāditi cet na dharmiṇo hetutve kasya cidasiddhatānupapatteḥ yathaiva hi pratyakṣaprayogakāle vādiprativādi
prasiddho dharmī tathā tasya hetutvavacane'pi nāsiddhiḥ sādhyadharmastu hetutvenopādīyamāno na pratijñātārthaika
deśatvenāsiddho dharmiṇo'pyasiddhiprasaṃgāt kiṃ tarhi svarūpeṇa vāsiddha iti na pratijñārthaikadeśāsiddho
nāma hetvābhāsaḥ saṃbhavatīti kathaṃ prakṛtahetau pratijñārthaikadeśāsiddhatvaṃ samudbhāvayan bhāvitānumānasvabhāvaḥ
dharmiṇo hetutve'nanvayaprasaṃga iti cet na viśeṣaṃ dharmiṇaṃ kṛtvā sāmānyaṃ hetuṃ bruvatāṃ doṣāsaṃbhavāt pratyakṣaṃ
hi viśeṣarūpaṃ dharmī pratyakṣasāmānyaṃ hetuḥ sa kathamananvayaḥ syāt sakalapratyakṣaviśeṣasya vyāpitvāt dṛṣṭāṃte
kvacidabhāvāt ananvaya iti cet na sarve bhāvāḥ kṣaṇikāḥ sattvāt ityāderapi hetorananvayatvaprasakteḥ
athāsya dṛṣṭāṃtena anvayasyāpi sādhyadharmiṇi sarvatrānvayasiddhervikṣe bādhakapramāṇasadbhāvācca nirdoṣatānu
manyate tata eva pratyakṣatvasya hetornidoṣatāstu sarvathā viśeṣābhāvāt kevalavyatirekiṇo'pi hetoravinā
bhāvanirṇayāt sādhyasādhanasāmarthyānna kaścidupālaṃbhastato niravadyo'yaṃ hetuḥ pratyakṣasya viśadajñānātmakatvaṃ
sādhayatyeva nacaitadasaṃbhavi sādhyamātmānaṃ pratiniyatasya jñānasya pratyakṣaśabdavācyasyārthasākṣātkāriṇaḥ sarvasya
kārtsnyena ekadeśena vā vaiśadyasiddherbādhakābhāvāt akṣṇoti vyāpnoti jānātītyakṣo hi ātmānameva
kṣīṇāvaraṇaṃ kṣīṇopaśāṃtāvaraṇaṃ vā pratiniyatasya jñānasya pratyakṣaśabdavācyasya kathaṃcidapi vaiśadyaṃ sabhā
vyamiti sūktaṃ viśadajñānātmakaṃ pratyakṣaṃ
tattrividhaṃ iṃdriyāniṃdriyātīṃdriyapratyakṣavikalpanāt tatreṃdriyapratyakṣaṃ sāṃvyavahārikaṃ deśatoviśada
tvāt tadvadaniṃdriyapratyakṣaṃ tasyāṃtarmukhākārasya kathaṃ cidvaiśadyasiddheḥ atīṃdriyapratyakṣaṃ tu dvividhaṃ vikala
pratyakṣaṃ sakalapratyakṣaṃ ceti vikalapratyakṣamapi dvividhaṃ avadhijñānaṃ manaḥparyayajñānaṃ ceti sakalapratyakṣaṃ
tu kevalajñānaṃ tadetattritayamapi mukhyaṃ pratyakṣaṃ mano'kṣānapekṣatvāt atītavyavabhicāritvāt sākāravastu
grāhitvāt sarvathā svaviṣayeṣu vaiśadyācca tathā coktaṃ tattvārthavārtikakāraiḥ
iṃdriyāniṃdriyānapekṣam atītavyabhicāraṃ sākāragrahaṇaṃ pratyakṣam iti
tatreṃdriyāniṃdriyānapekṣamiti vacanāt sāṃvyavahārikasyeṃdriyapratyakṣasyāniṃdriyasya ca deśato viśa
dasya vyavacchedasiddheḥ atītavyabhicāramiti vacanāt vibhaṃgajñānasyāvadhipratyakṣābhāsasya nivṛtteḥ
sākāragrahaṇamiti pratipādanāt nirākāragrahaṇasya darśanasya pratyakṣatvavyāvartanāt
sūktaṃ mukhyaṃ pratyakṣatrayaṃ nanu svasaṃdenapratyakṣaṃ caturthaṃ syāditi na maṃtavyaṃ tasya sakalajñānasādhara
ṇasvarūpatvāt yathaiva hīṃdriyapratyakṣasya svarūpasaṃvedanamiṃdriyapratyakṣameva anyathā tasya svaparasvarūpasaṃvedakatva
virodhāt saṃvedanadvayaprasaṃgācca tathānīṃdriyapratyakṣasya mānasasya svarūpasaṃvedanamaniṃdriyapratyakṣameva tata eva
tadvadatīṃdriyapratyakṣatritayameveti na tato'rthāṃtaraṃ svasaṃvedanapratyakṣaṃ etena śrutajñānasya svarūpasaṃvedanamaniṃ
driyapratyakṣamuktaṃ pratipattavyaṃ tasyāniṃdriyanimittatvāt vibhramajñānasvarūpasaṃvedanavat tathā ca sakalaṃ
jñānaṃ svarūpasaṃvedanāpekṣayā pramāṇaṃ siddhaṃ bhāvaprameyāpekṣāyāṃ pramāṇābhāsaninhavaḥ
kiṃ punariṃdriyapratyakṣaṃ iṃdriyapradhānyādiṃdriyavalādhānādupajāyamānaṃ matijñānaṃ
tadiṃdriyāniṃdriyanimittaṃ
iti vacanāt taccaturvidhaṃ avagrahehāvāyadhāraṇāvikalpāt tatra
viṣayaviṣayisannipātānaṃ
taramādyagrahaṇamavagrahaḥ tadgṛhītavastuviśeṣākāṃkṣaṇamīhā bhavitavyatāpratyayarūpāttadīhitavi
śeṣaniścayo'vāyaḥ sāvadhāraṇaṃ jña naṃ kālāṃtarāvismaraṇakāraṇaṃ dhāraṇājñānaṃ
tadetaccatuṣṭayamapi
akṣavyāpārāpekṣaṃ akṣavyāpārābhāve tadanudbhavanāt mano'pekṣaṃ ca pratihatamanasastadanutpatteḥ tata eveṃdriya
pratyakṣaṃ deśato viśadamavisaṃvādakaṃ pratipattavyaṃ sparśanādīndriyanimittasya bahubahuvidhakṣiprānisṛtānuktadhruveṣu
taditareṣvartheṣu vartamānasya pratīṃdriyamaṣṭacatvāriṃśadbhedasya vyaṃjanāvagrahabhedairaṣṭacatvāriṃśatā sahitasya saṃkhyāṣṭā
śītyuttaradviśatī pratipattavyā tathā aniṃdriyapratyakṣaṃ bahvādidvādaśaprakārārthaviṣayamavagrahādivikalpamaṣṭaca
tvāriṃśatsaṃkhyaṃ pratipattavyaṃ yatpunaratīṃdriyapratyakṣavikalpamavadhijñānaṃ tat ṣaḍvidhaṃ anugāmiananugāmi
vardhamānahīyamānaavasthitaanavasthitavikalpāt sapratipātāpratipātayoratraivāṃtarbhāvāt saṃkṣepatastu
trividhaṃ deśāvadhiparamāvadhisarvāvadhibhedāt tatra deśāvadhijñānaṃ ṣaḍvikalpamapi saṃbhavati paramāvadhijñānaṃ tu
saṃyamaviśeṣaikārthasamavāyibhavāṃtarāpekṣayānanugāmi pratipātaṃ ca pratyeyaṃ tadbhavāpekṣayā ca tadanugāmyeva nā
nanugāmi vardhamānameva na hīyamānaṃ avasthitameva nānavasthitaṃ apratipātameva napratipātaṃ tathāvidha
viśuddhinibaṃdhanatvāt etena sarvāvabhadhijñānaṃ vyākhyātaṃ kevalaṃ tadvardhamānamapi na bhavati paramaprakarṣaprāptatvāt
sakalāvadhijñānāvaraṇavīryāṃtarāyakṣayopaśamavaśātprasūtatvāt atisaṃkṣepastu dvividhamavadhijñānaṃ bhavapratyayaṃ
guṇapratyayaṃ ceti tatra bhavapratyayaṃ bahiraṃgadevabhavanārakabhavapratyayanimittatvāt tadbhāve bhāvāt tadabhāve'
bhāvāt tattu deśāvadhijñānameva guṇapratyayaṃ tu samyagdarśanaguṇanimittamasaṃyatasamyagdṛṣṭeḥ saṃyamāsaṃyamaguṇa
hetukaṃ saṃyatāsaṃyatasya saṃyamaguṇanibaṃdhanaṃ saṃyatasya satyaṃtaraṃgahetau bahiraṃgasya guṇapratyayasya bhāve bhāvāt
tadabhāve cābhāvāt tathā manaḥparyayajñānaṃ vikalamatīṃdriyapratyakṣaṃ dvedhā ṛjumativikalpāt tatrarjumati
manaḥparyayajñānaṃ nirvartitapraguṇavākkāyamanaskṛtārthasya paramanogatasya paricchedakatvāttrividhaṃ vipulamatimanaḥ
paryayajñānaṃ tu nirvartitānirvartitapraguṇāpraguṇavākkāyamanaskṛtārthasya paramanasi sthitasya sphuṭataramavabodhakatvāt
ṣaṭprakāraṃ tathāvidhamanaḥparyayajñānāvaraṇavīryāṃtarāyakṣayopaśamaviśeṣavalāt prādurbhūtatvāt sakalamatīṃdriya
pratyakṣaṃ kevalajñānaṃ sakalamohakṣayāt sakalajñānadarśanāvaraṇavīryāṃtarāyakṣayācca samudbhūtatvāt sakalavaiśadya
sadbhāvāt sakalaviṣayatvācca tadvān kaścitpuruṣaviśeṣo bhavatyeva sunirṇītāsaṃbhadbādhakapramāṇatvāt tathā
śāstrajñānena tadvānubhayavādiprasiddhaḥ nacātrāsiddhaṃ sādhanaṃ sarvātīṃdriyapratyakṣavataḥ puruṣasya pratyakṣādipramā
ṇairabādhyamānasya sakaladeśakālapuruṣapariṣadapekṣayāpi siddhatvāt sukhādisaṃvedanasyāpi tathaiva pramāṇatvopapatteḥ
anyathā kasyacidiṣṭasiddherasaṃbhavāt iti saṃkṣepato viśadaṃ jñānaṃ sāṃvyavahārikaṃ mukhyaṃ ca prarūpitaṃ vista
ratastu tattvārthālaṃkāre parīkṣitamiha dṛṣṭavyaṃ
saṃprati parokṣamucyate parokṣamaviśadajñānātmakaṃ parokṣatvāt yannāviśadajñānātmakaṃ tanna parokṣaṃ yathā
tīṃdriyapratyakṣaṃ parokṣaṃ ca vivādādhyāsitaṃ jñānaṃ tasmādaviśadajñānātmakaṃ nacāsya parokṣatvamasiddhaṃakṣebhyaḥ
parāvṛttatvāt
tathopāttānupāttaparapratyayāpekṣaṃ parokṣamiti

hi pratyayaḥ karmavaśādātmanā karaṇatvena gṛhītaḥ sparśanādiḥ tato'nyaḥ punarbahiraṃgaḥ sahakārī pratyayo'nu
pāttaḥ śabdaliṃgādiḥ tadapekṣaṃ jñānaṃ parokṣamityabhidhīyate tadapi saṃkṣepato dvedhā matijñānaṃ śrutajñānaṃ ceti

iti vacanāt matiśrutāvadhimanaḥparyayakevalāni hi jñānaṃ tatrādye matiśrute sūtrapāṭhāpe
kṣayā lakṣyete te ca parāpekṣatayā parokṣe pratipādite parānapekṣāṇyavadhimanaḥparyayakevalāni yathā pratyakṣā
ṇīti tatrāvagrahādidhāraṇāparyaṃtaṃ matijñānamapi deśatovaiśadyasadbhāvātsāṃvyavahārikaṃ iṃdriyapratyakṣamatīṃdriyapra
tyakṣaṃ cābhidhīyamānaṃ na virudhyate tataḥ śeṣasya matijñānasya smṛtisaṃjñāciṃtābhinibodhalakṣaṇasya śrutasya ca
parokṣatvavyavasthiteḥ taduktamakalaṃkadevaiḥ
pratyakṣaṃ viśadaṃ jñānaṃ mukhyasaṃvyavahārataḥ
parokṣaṃ śeṣavijñānaṃ pramāṇamiti saṃgrahaḥ
tatra tadityākārānubhūtārthaviṣayā smṛtiḥ aniṃdriyapratyakṣaṃ viśadatvāt sukhādisaṃvedanavadityeke tada
sat tasmāttatra vaiśadyāsiddheḥ punarbhāvayato vaiṣadyapratīterbhāvanājñānatvāt tasya ca bhrāṃtatvāta svapnajñā
navat pūrvānubhūte'tīte'rthe vaiśadyāsaṃbhavāt smṛtiḥ parokṣameva śrutānumitasmṛtivat ityapare tadityullekhasya
sarvasyāṃ smṛtau sadbhāvāt sā ca pramāṇamavisaṃvādakatvāt pratyakṣavat yatra tu visaṃvādaḥ sā smṛtyābhāsā
pratyakṣābhāsavat tathā tadevedamityākāraṃ jñānaṃ saṃjñā pratyabhijñā tādṛśamevedamityākāraṃ vā vijñānaṃ
saṃjñocyate tasyā ekatvasādṛśyaviṣayatvāddvaividhyopapatteḥ dvividhaṃ hi pratyabhijñānaṃ tadevedamityekatvani
baṃdhanaṃ tādṛśamevedati sādṛśyanibaṃdhanaṃ ca nanu ca tadevetyatītapratibhāsasya smaraṇarūpatvāt ida
miti saṃvedanasya pratyakṣarūpatvāt saṃvedanadvitayamevaitat tādṛśamevedamiti smaraṇapratyakṣasaṃvedanadvitayavat
tato naikaṃ jñānaṃ pratyabhijñākhyāṃ pratipadyamānaṃ saṃbhavatīti kaścit so'pi na saṃvedanaviśeṣavipaścit
smaraṇapratyakṣajanyasya pūrvottaravivartavartyekadravyaviṣayasya pratyabhijñānasyaikasya supratītatvāt na hi
taditi smaraṇaṃ tathāvidhadravyavyavasāyātmakaṃ tasyātītavivartamātragocaratvāt nāpīdamiti saṃvedanaṃ tasya va
rtamānavivartamātraviṣayatvāt tābhyāmupajanyaṃ tu sakalajñānaṃ tadanuvādapurassaraṃ dravyaṃ pratyavamṛśat tato
'nyadeva pratyabhijñānamekatvaviṣayaṃ tadapahnave kvacidekānvayāvyavasthānāt saṃtānaikatvasiddhirapi na syāt nacai
tadagṛhītapramāṇādapramāṇamiti śaṃkanīyaṃ tasya kathaṃcidapūrvārthatvāt na hi tadviṣayabhūtamekaṃ dravyaṃ smṛti
pratyakṣagrāhyaṃ yena tatra pravartamānaṃ pratyabhijñānaṃ gṛhītagrāhi manyeta tadgṛhītātītavartamānavivartatādātmyāt
dravyasya kathaṃcidapūrvārthatve'pi pratyabhijñānasya tadviṣayasya nāpramāṇatvaṃ laiṃgikāderapyapramāṇatvaprasaṃgāt tasyāpi
sarvathaivāpūrvārthatvāsiddheḥ saṃbaṃdhagrāhivijñānaviṣayāt sādhyādisāmānyāt kathaṃcidabhinnasyānumeyasya deśa
kālaviśiṣṭasya tadviṣayatvāt kathaṃcidapūrvārthatvasiddheḥ bādhakapramāṇānna pramāṇaṃ pratyabhijñānamiti cāyuktaṃ tadbā
dhakasyāsaṃbhavāt nahi pratyakṣaṃ tadbādhakaṃ tasya tadviṣaye pravṛttyasaṃbhavāt sādhakatvavadbādhakatvavirodhāt yathā
hi yadyatra viṣaye na pravartate na tattasya sādhakaṃ bādhakaṃ vā yathā rūpajñānasya rasajñānaṃ na pravartate ca pratyabhijñā
nasya viṣaye pratyakṣaṃ tasmānna tadbādhakaṃ pratyakṣaṃ hi na pratyabhijñānaviṣaye pūrvadṛṣṭadṛśyamānaparyāyavyāpini dravye
pravartate tasya dṛśyamānaparyāyaviṣayatvāt iti nāsiddhaṃ sādhanaṃ etenānumānaṃ pratyabhijñānasya bādhakaṃ pratyākhyātaṃ
tasyāpi pratyabhijñānaviṣaye pravṛttyayogāt kvacidanumeyamātre pravṛttisiddheḥ tasya tadviṣaye pravṛttau vā sarvathā
bādhakatvavirodhāt tataḥ pratyabhijñānaṃ svaviṣaye dravye pramāṇaṃ sakalabādhārahitatvāt pratyakṣavat smṛtivadvā
etena sādṛśyanibaṃdhanaṃ pratyabhijñānaṃ pramāṇamāveditaṃ boddhavyaṃ tasyāpi svaviṣaye bodhākārarahitatvasiddheḥ
yathaiva hi pratyakṣaṃ svaviṣaye sākṣātkriyamāṇe smaraṇaṃ ca smaryamāṇe'rthe bādhāvidhuraṃ tathā pratyabhijñānamekatra dravye
sādṛśye ca svaviṣaye na saṃbhavadbādhakamiti kathamapramāṇamanumanyemahi yatpunaḥ svaviṣaye bādhyamānaṃ tatpratyabhi
jñānābhāsaṃ yathā pratyakṣābhāsaṃ smaraṇābhāsaṃ vā na ca tasyāpramāṇatve sarvathā pramāṇatvaṃ yuktaṃ pratyakṣasyāpyapramā
ṇatvaprasaṃgāt tasmādyathā śukle śaṃkhe pītābhāsaṃ pratyakṣaṃ tatraiva śuklābhāsena pratyakṣāṃtareṇa bādhyamānatvāt
apramāṇaṃ na punaḥ pīte kanakādau pītābhāsaṃ pratyakṣaṃ tathā tasminneva svaputrādau tādṛśoyamiti pratyabhijñānaṃ
sādṛśyanibaṃdhaḥ sa evāyamityekatvanibaṃdhanena pratyabhijñānena bodhyamānamapramāṇaṃ siddhaṃ na punaḥ sādṛśya eva prava
rtamānaṃ svaputrādinā sādṛśye'nyaputrādau tādṛśo'yamiti pratyabhijñānaṃ tasyābādhyatvena pramāṇatvāt evaṃ lūnapu
narjātanakhakeśādiriti sādṛśyapratyavamarśipratyabhijñānaṃ tatra tasyābādhyamānatayā pramāṇatvasiddheḥ tathaiva pūrvā
nubhūte hi hiraṇyādau pradeśaviśeṣaviśiṣṭe smaraṇaṃ viparītadeśatayā tatsmaraṇasya bādhakamiti na tattatra pramāṇaṃ
yathānubhūtapradeśe tu tathaiva smaraṇaṃ pramāṇamiti boddhavyaṃ tata idamabhidhīyate yato yatorthaṃ paricchidya pravarta
māno'rthakriyāyāṃ na visaṃvādyate tattatpramāṇaṃ yathā pratyakṣamanumānaṃ vā smaraṇāt pratyabhijñānācca arthaṃ pari
cchidya pravartamāno'rthakriyāyāṃ na visaṃvādyate ca tasmātpramāṇaṃ smaraṇaṃ pratyabhijñānaṃ ceti tathā parokṣametadavi
saṃvāditvāt anumānavat sādhyasādhanasaṃbaṃdhagrāhitarkavadvā viśadasya bhāvanājñānatvāt yāvān kaściddhūmaḥ
sa sarvaḥ pāvakajanmaiva apāvakajanmā vā na bhavatīti sakaladeśakālavyāptasādhyasādhanasaṃbaddhohāpohalakṣaṇo
hi tarkaḥ pramāṇayitavyaḥ tasya kathaṃcidapūrvārthatvāt pratyakṣānupalaṃbhagṛhītapratiniyatadeśakālasādhyasā
dhanavyaktimātragrāhitvābhāvāt gṛhītagrahaṇasaṃbhavāt bādhakavarjitatvācca nahi tarkasya pratyakṣaṃ bādhakaṃ tadvi
ṣaye tasyāpravṛtteranumānavat pravṛttau vā sarvathā tadbādhakatvavirodhāt kvacideva tadbādhakopapatteḥ yasya tu tadbādhakaṃ
sa tarkābhāso na pramāṇamitīṣṭaṃ śiṣṭaiḥ smaraṇapratyabhijñānābhāsavat pratyakṣānumānābhāsavadvā tathā pramāṇaṃ
tarkastato'rthaṃ paricchidya pravartamānasyārthakriyāyāṃ visaṃvādābhāvāt pratyakṣānumānavaditi pratipattavyaṃ parokṣaṃ
cedaṃ tarkajñānaṃ avisaṃvādakatvāt anumānavat kiṃ punaranumānaṃ nāma
sādhanātsādhyavijñānam anumānaṃ
tatra sādhanaṃ sādhyāvinābhāviniyamaniścayaikalakṣaṇaṃ lakṣaṇāṃtarasya sādhanābhāse'pi bhāvāt svalakṣa
ṇasya sādhanasya sādhanānupapatteḥ paṃcādilakṣaṇavat naca sapakṣe sattvaṃ pakṣadharmatvaṃ vipakṣe cāsattvamātraṃ sādhana
lakṣaṇaṃ paśyāmastatputratvāditaratatputravadityatra sādhanābhāse tatsadbhāvasiddheḥ sapakṣe hītaratra tatputre tatputratvasya
sādhanasya śyāmatvavyāptasya sattvaṃ prasiddhaṃ vivādādhyāsite ca tatputre pakṣīkṛte tatputratvasya sadbhāvāt pakṣadharma
tvaṃ vipakṣe vā śyāme kvacidanyaputre tatputratvasyābhāvāt vipakṣe'sattvamātraṃ ca naca tāvatā sādhyasādha
natvaṃ sādhanasya nanu sākālyena sādhyanivṛttau sādhananivṛtterasaṃbhavāt paratra gaure'pi tatputre tatputratvasya bhāvāt
na samyak sādhanametat iti cet tarhi kārtsnyena sādhyanivṛttau sādhananivṛtterniścayaevaikaṃ sādhanalakṣaṇaṃ saevā
nyathānupapattiniyamaniścayaḥ syādvādibhiḥ sādhanalakṣaṇamabhidhīyate tatsadbhāve pakṣadharmatvādyabhāve'pi sādhana
sya samyaktvapratīteḥ udeṣyati śakaṭaṃ kṛttikodayādityasya pakṣadharmatvābhāve'pi prayojakatvavyavasthiteḥ
na hi śakaṭe dharmiṇyudeṣyattāyāṃ sādhyāyāṃ kṛttikāyā udayo'sti tasya kṛttikādharmatvāt tato na pakṣa
dharmatvaṃ yadi punarākāśaṃ kālo vā dharmī tasyodeṣyacchakaṭavattvaṃ sādhyaṃ kṛttikodayasādhanaṃ pakṣadharma eveti
mataṃ tadā dharitrīdharmiṇi mahodadhyādhārāgnimattvaṃ sādhyaṃ mahānasadhūmavattvaṃ sādhanaṃ pakṣadharmo'stu tathā ca mahā
nasadhūmo mahodadhāvagniṃ gamayediti na kaścidapakṣadharmo hetuḥ syāt athetthametasya sādhanasya pakṣadharmatva
siddhāvapi na sādhyasādhanasāmarthyamavinābhāviniyamaniścayasyābhāvādityabhidhīyate tarhi sa eva sādhanalakṣa
ṇamakṣūṇaṃ parīkṣādakṣairupalakṣyate
yopyāha śakaṭodayo bhāvikāraṇaṃ kṛttikodayasya tadanvayavyatirekānuvidhānāt sati hi svakāle
bhaviṣyati śakaṭodaye kṛtikodaya upalabhyate nāsatītyanvayavyatirekānuvidhānaṃ siddhaṃ bhaviṣyacchakaṭakṛtti
kodayayoḥ kāryakāraṇabhāvaṃ sādhayati vinaṣṭavartamānavadeva yathaivodagādbharaṇiḥ kṛttikodādityatrātīto bhara
ṇyudayaḥ kāraṇaṃ kṛttikodayastatkāryaṃ svakāle'tīte sati bharaṇyudaye kṛttikodayasya bhāvādasatyabhāvācca tada
nvayavyatirekānuvidhānāt kāryakāraṇabhāvaḥ tathā bhaviṣyadvartamānayorapi prakṛtasādhyasādhanayornyāyasya
samānatvāt nacaikasya kṛttikodayasya bhaviṣyadatītakāraṇadvitiyaṃ virudhyate bhinnadeśayoriva bhinnakālayo
rapi sahakāritvavirodhāt sahaikasya kāryasya kāraṇaṃ hi sahakāritvanibaṃdhanaṃ nābhinnakālatvamabhinnadeśavat
nacātītānāgatau bharaṇyudayaśakaṭodayau kṛttikodayasyopādānakāraṇaṃ pūrvakṛttikālakṣaṇasyānudayamāpannasya
tadupādānakāraṇatvasaṃpratipatteḥ iti so'pi na prātītikavacanaḥ tathā pratītyabhāvāt kāryakālamaprāpnu
vatorvinaṣṭānāgatayoḥ kāraṇatve hi vinaṣṭatamānāgatatamayorapi kāraṇatvaṃ kathaṃ vinivāryaṃ pratyāsattiviśeṣā
bhāvāditi cet tarhi sa eva pratyāsattiviśeṣaḥ kāraṇatvābhimatayoratītānāgatayoḥ kāraṇatve heturvaktavyaḥ
sa cātītasya kārye vyāpārastāvanna bhavati sarvathāpi kāryakāle tadasattvādanāgatavat tadbhāve bhāvapratyāsa
ttiviśeṣa ityapyasāraṃ atītasyānāgatasya cābhāva eva kāryasya bhāvāt bhāve cābhāvāt anyathā kāryakāra
ṇayorekakālatāpatteḥ sakalasaṃtānānāmekakṣaṇavartitvaprasaṃgaḥ naikakṣaṇasaṃtāno nāma tasyāparāmṛṣṭabheda
nānākāryakāraṇalakṣaṇatvāt
yadapyabhyadhāyi kāraṇasyātītasyānāgatasya ca svakāle bhāve kāryasya bhāvāt abhāve cābhāvāt tada
bhāvābhāvo'nvayavyatirekānuvidhānalakṣaṇaḥ pratyāsattiviśeṣo'styeva iti tadapyasaṃgataṃ kāraṇatvānabhimatā
tītānāgatatamayorapi tathā tadbhāvaprasaṃgāt kāryasya bhinnadeśasya tu kāraṇatve yuktastadbhāvabhāvaḥ kalaśakuṃ
bhakārādivat kuṃbhakārādiṣu hi bhinnasvadeśeṣu satsu kalaśasya bhāvo'satsu cābhāvasteṣāṃ tatra vyāpārāt
kāraṇatvānabhimatasya tu bhinnadeśasya na kārye tadbhāvabhāvo tatra tasyāvyāpārāt atītānāgatavat sato hi
kasya citkvacidvyāpāraḥ śreyān na punarasataḥ kharaviṣāṇāderiveti yuktaṃ tato bhinnadeśasyāpi kasyacidekasya
kārye vyāpriyamāṇasya sahakārikāraṇatvaṃ pratītimanusarati na punarbhinnakālasya pratītyatilaṃghanāt tato na
kṛttikodayaśakaṭodayayoḥ kāryakāraṇabhāvaḥ samavatiṣṭate vyāpyavyāpakabhāvavat satyapi tayoḥ kāryakāraṇabhāve
na hetoḥ pakṣadharmatvaṃ yujyate iti pakṣadharmamaṃtareṇāpi hetorgamakatvasiddherna tallakṣaṇamutprekṣyate tathā na sapakṣa
eva sattvaṃ niścitaṃ tadabhāve'pi sarvabhāvānāmanityatve sādhye sattvādeḥ sādhanasya svayaṃ sādhutvasamarthanāt
vipakṣe punarasattvameva niścitaṃ sādhyāvinābhāviniyamaniścayarūpameveti tadeva hetoḥ pradhānalakṣaṇamastu kimatra
lakṣaṇāṃtareṇa
atha matametatpakṣadharmatvamasiddhatvamasiddhatvavyavacchedārthaṃ sādhanasya lakṣaṇaṃ niścīyate sapakṣa eva sattvaṃ
viruddhatvavyavacchedāya vipakṣe cāsattvaṃanekāṃtitvavyavacchittaye tadaniścaye hetorasiddhatvādidoṣatrayaparihārā
saṃbhavāt trairūpyaṃ tallakṣaṇaṃ saphalameva taduktaṃ
hetostriṣvapi rūpeṣu nirṇayastena varṇitaḥ
asiddhaviparītārthavyabhicārivipakṣataḥ iti
tadapyaparīkṣitābhidhānaṃ saugatasya hetoranyathānupapattiniyamaniścayādeva doṣatrayaparihārasiddheḥ svayama
siddhasyānyathānupapattiniyamaniścayāsaṃbhavāt anaikāṃtikaviparītārthavat tasya tathopapattiniyamaniścaya
rūpatvāt tasya cāsiddhavyabhicāriṇi viruddhe ca hetāvasaṃbhāvanīyatvāt rūpatrayasyāvinābhāva
niyamaprapaṃcatvāt sādhanalakṣaṇatve tata eva rūpaprapaṃcakasya sādhanalakṣaṇatvamastu pakṣavyāpakatvānvayavya
tirekābādhitaviṣayatvāsatpratipakṣarūpāṇi hi paṃcāpyavinābhāvaniyamaprapaṃca eva bādhitaviṣayasya satpra
tipakṣitasya cāvinābhāvaniyamāniścayāt pakṣāvyāpakānanvayāvyatirekavat na pakṣadharmatve satyeva sā
dhanasya siddhatvaṃ yenāsiddhavivekatastattasya lakṣaṇaṃ apakṣadharmasyāpi siddhatvasamarthanāt nāpi sapakṣe
sattve eva viparītārthavivekaḥ sarvānekāṃtātmakatvasādhane sattvādeḥ sapakṣe sattvābhāve'pi viruddhatvābhā
vāt parasya sarvānityatvasādhanavat naca vyatirekamātre satyapi vyabhicāriviveke śyāmatve sādhye
tatputratvādervyabhicārasādhanāt vyatirekaviśeṣastu tadevānyathānupapannatvamiti na trīṇi rūpāṇyavinā
bhāvaniyamaprapaṃcaḥ teṣu satsu hetoranyathānupapattidarśanāt teṣāṃ tatprapaṃcatve kālākāśādīnāmapi tatpra
paṃcatvaprasaktisteṣvapi satsu taddarśanāt teṣāṃ sarvasādharaṇatvānna heturūpatvamityapi pakṣadharmatvādiṣu samānaṃ
teṣāmapi sādhāraṇatvāddhetvābhāseṣvapi bhāvāt tato'sādhāraṇaṃ lakṣaṇamācakṣāṇairanyathānupapannatvameva niyataṃ
hetulakṣaṇaṃ pakṣīkartavyaṃ tathoktaṃ
anyathānupapannatvaṃ yatra tatra trayeṇa kiṃ
nānyathānupapannatvaṃ yatra tatra trayeṇa kiṃ iti
etena paṃcarūpāṇi hetoravinābhāvaniyamaprapaṃca eva ityetadapāstaṃ satyapyabādhitaviṣayatve satpratipakṣe
cāvinābhāvaniyamānavalokāt pakṣavyāpakatvānyayavyatirekavat sa śyāmastatputratvāditaratatputravat
ityatra tatputratvasya hetorviṣaye śyāmatve bādhakasya pratyakṣāderabhāvāt avādhitaviṣayatvasiddhāvapi avinā
bhāvaniyamāsattvāt aśyāmena tatputreṇa vyabhicārāt tathā tasya śyāmatvasādhanānumānasya pratipakṣasyāsa
ttvāt asatpratipakṣatve satyapi vyabhicārātsādhanasya tadabhāvaḥ pratipattavyaḥ tadatraivaṃ vaktavyaṃ
anyathānupapannatvaṃ rūpaiḥ kiṃ paṃcabhiḥ kṛtaṃ
nānyathānupapannatvaṃ rūpaiḥ kiṃ paṃcabhiḥ kṛtaṃ iti
tadevamanyathānupapattiniyamaniścaya evaikaṃ sādhanasya lakṣaṇaṃ pradhānaṃ tasminsati trilakṣaṇasya paṃcala
kṣaṇasya prayogo nivāryate eveti prayogaparipāṭyāḥ pratipādyānurodhataḥ parānugrahapravṛttairabhyupagamāt tathā cā
bhyadhāyi
kumāranaṃdi
bhaṭṭārakaiḥ
anyathānupapattyekalakṣaṇaṃ liṃgamaṃgyate
prayogaparipāṭī tu pratipādyānurodhataḥ iti
tacca sādhanaṃ ekalakṣaṇaṃ sāmanyādekavidhamapi viśeṣato'tisaṃkṣepāddvividhaṃ vidhisādhanaṃ saṃkṣepāstrividhaṃ
mabhidhīyate kāryaṃ kāraṇasya kāraṇaṃ kāryasya akāryakāraṇamakāryakāraṇasyeti prakārāṃtarasyātraivāṃtarbhāvāt
tatra kāryaṃ hetuḥ agniratra dhūmāt iti kāryakāryāderatraivāṃtargatatvāt kāraṇaṃ hetuḥ astyatra chāyā chatrāt
iti kāraṇakāraṇāderatrānupraveśānnārthātaratvaṃ na cānukūlatvamātramatyakṣaṇaprāptaṃ vā kāraṇaṃ liṃgamucyate yena
pratibaṃdhavaikalyasaṃbhavādvyabhicāri syāt dvitīyakṣaṇe kāryasya pakṣīkaraṇādanumānānarthakatvaṃ vā kāryāvinā
bhāviniyamatayā niścitasyānumānakālaprāptasya kāraṇasya viśiṣṭasya liṃgatvāt akāryakāraṇaṃ caturvidhaṃ
vyāpyaṃ sahacaraṃ pūrvacaraṃ uttaracaraṃ ceti tatra vyāpyaliṃgaṃ vyāpakasya yathā sarvamanekāṃtātmakaṃ sattvāditi
sattvaṃ hi vastutvaṃ
utpādavyayadhrauvyayuktaṃ sat
iti vacanāt naca tadekāṃtena sunayaviṣayeṇa vyabhicāri tasya vastvaṃśatvāt sahacaraṃ liṃgaṃ yathā
asti tejasi sparśasāmānyaṃ na rūpasāmānyasya kāryaṃ kāraṇaṃ vā nāpi rūpasāmānyaṃ sparśasāmānyasya tayoḥ
sarvatra sarvadā samakālatvāt sahacaratvaprasiddheḥ etena saṃyogina ekārthasamavāyinaśca sādhyasamakālasya
sahacaratvaṃ niveditamekasāmagryadhīnasyaiva pratipattavyaṃ samavāyinaḥ kāraṇatvavat pūrvacaraṃ liṃgaṃ yathodeṣyati
śakaṭaṃ kṛttikodayāt iti pūrvapūrvacarādyanenaiva saṃgṛhītaṃ uttaracaraliṃgaṃ yathā udagādbharaṇiḥ kṛtikodayāt
iti uttarottaracarametenaiva saṃgṛhyate tadetatsādhyasya vidhau sādhanaṃ ṣaḍvidhamuktaṃ pratiṣedhe tu pratiṣedhyasya viruddhaṃ
kāryaṃ viruddhaṃ kāraṇaṃ viruddhākāryakāraṇaṃ ceti tatra viruddhakāryaliṃgaṃnāstyatra śītasparśo dhūmāt iti śīta
sparśena hi viruddho vanhiḥ tasya kāryaṃ dhūma iti viruddhakāraṇaṃ nāsya puṃso'satyamasti samyagjñānāt iti viruddhaṃ
hyasatyena satyaṃ tasya kāraṇaṃ samyagjñānaṃ yathārthajñānaṃ rāgadveṣarahitaṃ tatkutaścitsuktābhidhānādeḥ prasiddhyat
satyaṃ sādhayati tacca siddhyadasatyaṃ pratiṣedhayati iti viruddhākāryakāraṇaṃ caturvidhaṃviruddhavyāpyaṃ viruddhasaha
caraṃ viruddhapūrvacaraṃ viruddhottaracaraṃ ceti tatra viruddhavyāpyaṃ nāstyatra śītasparśaḥ auṣṇyāt auṣṇyaṃ hi
vyāpyamagneḥ sa ca viruddhaḥ śītasparśena pratiṣedhyeneti viruddhasahacaraṃ nāstyasya mithyājñānaṃ samyagdarśanāditi
mithyājñānena hi samyagjñānaṃ viruddhaṃ tatsahacaraṃ samyagdarśanamiti viruddhapūrvacaraṃ nodeṣyati muhūrtāṃte śaṃkaṭaṃ
revatyudayāt śakaṭodayaviruddho hyaśvanyudayaḥ tatpūrvacaro revatyudayaḥ viruddhottaracaraṃmuhūrtāt prāṅgodagādbharaṇiḥ
puṣpodayāditi bharaṇyudayaviruddho hi punarvasūdayaḥ taduttaracaraḥ puṣpodaya iti tānyetāni sākṣātpratiṣedhya
viruddhakāryādīni liṃgāni vidhidvāreṇa pratiṣedhasādhanāni ṣaḍabhihitāni paraṃparayā tu kāraṇaviruddhakāryaṃ vyāpa
kaviruddhakāryaṃ kāraṇavyāpakaviruddhakāryaṃ vyāpakakāraṇaviruddhakāryaṃ kāraṇaviruddhakāraṇaṃ vyāpakaviruddhakāraṇaṃ kāra
ṇavyāpakaviruddhakāraṇaṃ vyāpakakāraṇaviruddhakāraṇaṃ ceti tathā kāraṇaviruddhavyāpyādīni kāraṇaviruddhacahacarā
dīni ca yathāpratīti vaktavyāni tatra kāraṇaviruddhakāryaṃnāstyasya himajanitaromaharṣādiviśeśo dhūmāt
iti pratiṣedhyasya hi romaharṣādiviśeṣasya kāraṇaṃ himaṃ tadviruddho'gniḥ tatkāryaṃ dhūma iti vyāpakaviruddhakāryaṃ
nāstyatra śītasāmānyavyāptaḥ śītasparśaviśeṣo dhūmāt iti śītasparśaviśeṣasya hi niṣedhyasya vyāpakaṃ śī

ṣajanitaromaharṣādiviśeṣo dhūmāt iti romaharṣādiviśeṣasya hi kāraṇaṃ himaviśeṣastasya vyāpakaṃ himatvaṃ
tadviruddhogniḥ tatkāryaṃ dhūma iti vyāpakakāraṇaviruddhakāryaṃ nāstyatra śītasparśaviśeṣastadvyāpakaśītaspa
rśamātrakāraṇahimaviruddhāgnikāryadhūmāditi śītasparśaviśeṣasya hi vyāpakaṃ śītasparśamātraṃ tasya kāraṇaṃ himaṃ
tadviruddhognistatkāryaṃ dhūma iti kāraṇaviruddhakāraṇaṃnāstyasya mithyācaraṇaṃ tattvārthopadeśagrahaṇāt mi
thyācaraṇasya hi kāraṇaṃ mithyājñānaṃ tadviruddhaṃ tattvajñānaṃ tasya kāraṇaṃ tattvārthopadeśagrahaṇaṃ tattvārtho
padeśaśravaṇe satyapi kasya cittatvajñānāsaṃbhavād grahaṇavacanaṃ tattvārthānāṃ śraddhānapūrvakaṃavadhāraṇaṃ hi
grahaṇamiṣṭaṃ anyathāsya grahaṇābhāsatvāt mithyācaraṇasya vātra nāstitā sādhyate na punaranācaraṇasya
tattvārthopadeśagrahaṇādutpannatattvajñānasyāpyasaṃyatasamyagdṛṣṭeścāritrāsaṃbhavāt anācārasya prasiddheḥ na tu mi
thyācaraṇamapyasya saṃbhavati tattvajñānavirodhāt tena saha tasyānavasthānāt iti tathā vyāpakaviruddhakāraṇaṃ
liṃgaṃnāstyasyātmani mithyājñānaṃ tattvārthopadeśagrahaṇāt iti ātmani mithyājñānaviśeṣasya vyāpakaṃ mithyā
jñānamātraṃ tadviruddhaṃ satyajñānaṃ tasya kāraṇaṃ tattvārthopadeśagrahaṇaṃ yathārthopavarṇitamiti kāraṇavyāpakaviruddha
kāraṇaṃnāstyasya mithyācaraṇaṃ tattvārthopadeśagrahaṇāditi atra mithyācaraṇasya kāraṇaṃ mithyājñānaviśeṣaḥ
tasya vyāpakaṃ mithyājñānamātraṃ tadviruddhaṃ tattvajñānaṃ tasya kāraṇaṃ tattvārthopadeśagrahaṇamiti pratyeyaṃ
vyāpakakāraṇaviruddhakāraṇaṃ liṃgaṃ nāstyasya mithyācaraṇaviśeṣastattvārthopadeśagrahaṇāditi mithyācaraṇa viśe
ṣasya hi vyāpakaṃ mithyācaraṇasāmānyaṃ tasya kāraṇaṃ mithyājñānaṃ tadviruddhaṃ tattvajñānaṃ tasya kāraṇaṃ tattvārthopade
śagrahaṇamiti tathā kāraṇaviruddhavyāpyaṃ liṃgaṃ na saṃti sarvathaikāṃtavādinaḥ praśamasaṃvegānukaṃpāstikyāni
vaiparyāsikamithyādarśanaviśeṣāt praśamādīnāṃ hi kāraṇaṃ samyagdarśanaṃ tadviruddhaṃ mithyādarśanasāmānyaṃ tena
vyāpyaṃ mithyādarśanaṃ vaiparyāsikaviśiṣṭamiti vyāpakaviruddhavyāpyaṃna saṃti syādvādino vaiparyāsikādimi
thyādarśanaviśeṣāḥ satyajñānaviśeṣāt iti vaiparyāsikādimithyādarśanaviśeṣāṇāṃ hi vyāpakaṃ mithyādarśanasā
mānyaṃ tadviruddhaṃ tattvajñānasāmānyaṃ tasya vyāpyastattvajñānaviśeṣa iti kāraṇavyāpakaviruddhavyāpyaṃ na
saṃtyasya praśamādīni mithyājñānaviśeṣāditi praśamādīnāṃ hi kāraṇaṃ samyagdarśanaviśeṣaḥ tasya vyāpakaṃ samya
gdarśanasāmānyaṃ tadviruddhaṃ mithyājñānasāmānyaṃ tena vyāpto mithyājñānaviśeṣa iti vyāpakakāraṇaviruddha
vyāpyaṃ liṃgaṃ na saṃtyasya tattvajñānaviśeṣāḥ mithyārthopadeśagrahaṇaviśeṣāt tattvajñānaviśeṣāṇāṃ vyāpakaṃ
tattvajñānasāmānyaṃ tasya kāraṇaṃ tattvārthopadeśagrahaṇaṃ tadviruddhaṃ mithyārthopadeśagrahaṇasāmānyaṃ tena vyāpto
mithyārthopadeśagrahaṇaviśeṣa iti evaṃ kāraṇaviruddhasahacaraṃ liṃgaṃsaṃtyasya praśamādīni mithyājñānāditi
praśamādīnāṃ hi kāraṇaṃ samyagdarśanaṃ tadviruddhaṃ mithyādarśanaṃ tatsahacaraṃ mithyājñānamiti vyāpakaviruddha
sahacaraṃna saṃtyasya mithyādarśanaviśeṣāḥ samyagjñānāditi mithyādarśanaviśeṣāṇāṃ hi vyāpakaṃ mithyādarśa
nasāmānyaṃ tadviruddhaṃ tattvārthaśraddhānaṃ samyagdarśanaṃ tatsahacaraṃ samyagjñānamiti kāraṇavyāpakaviruddhasahacaraṃ
na saṃtyasya praśamādīni mithyājñānāditi praśamādīnāṃ hi kāraṇaṃ samyagdarśanaviśeṣāsteṣāṃ vyāpakaṃ samya

darśanamohodayastadviruddhaṃ samyagdarśanaṃ tatsahacaraṃ samyagjñānamiti tadetsāmānyato virodhiliṃgaṃ prapaṃcato
dvāviṃśatiprakāramapi bhūtamabhūtasya gamakamanyathānupapannatvaniyamaniścayalakṣaṇatvāt pratipattavyaṃ bhūtaṃ bhūtasya
prayojakaṃ kāryādi ṣaṭprakāraṃ pūrvamuktaṃ taditthaṃ vidhimukhena vidhāyakaṃpratiṣedhamukhena pratiṣedhakaṃ ca liṃgama
bhidhāya sāṃprataṃ pratiṣedhamukhena vidhāyakaṃ pratiṣedhakaṃ ca sādhanamabhidhīyate tatrābhūtaṃ bhūtasya vidhāyakaṃyathā
astyasya prāṇino vyādhiviśeṣo nirāmayaceṣṭānupalabdheriti tathā asti sarvathaikāṃtavādināmajñānādi
rdoṣaḥ yuktiśāstrāviruddhavacanābhāvāt iti astyasya munerāptatvaṃ visaṃvādakatvābhāvāt abhūdetasya tāla
phalasya patanakarma vṛṃtasaṃyogābhāvāt iti vahudhā dṛṣṭavyaṃ tathaivābhūtamabhūtasya pratiṣedhasya pratiṣedhakaṃ yathā
nāstyatra śavaśarīre buddhirvyāpāravyāhārākāraviśeṣānupalabdheriti kāryānupalabdhiḥ na saṃtyasya praśamādīni
tattvārthaśraddhānānupalabdheriti kāraṇānupalabdhiḥ nāstyatra śiṃśapā vṛkṣānupalabdheriti vyāpakānupalabdhiḥ
nāstyasya tattvajñānaṃ samyagdarśanābhāvāt iti sahacarānupalabdhiḥ na bhaviṣyati muhūrtāṃte śakaṭodayaḥ kṛtti
kodayānupalabdheriti pūrvacarānupalabdhiḥ nodagādbharaṇirmuhūrtātprākkṛttikodayānupalabdheriti uttaracarānupa
labdhiḥ eva paraṃparayā kāraṇādyanupalabdhiḥ vyāpakavyāpakānupalabdhyādikamapi bahudhā pratiṣedhadvāreṇa
pratiṣedhasādhanamavadhāraṇīyaṃ

liṃgaṃ tallakṣaṇavyāpterbhūtaṃ bhūtasya sādhakaṃ

liṃgaṃ bhūtamabhūtasya liṃgalakṣaṇayogataḥ
pāraṃparyāttu kāryaṃ syāt kāraṇaṃ vyāpyameva ca
sahacāri ca nirdiṣṭaṃ pratyekaṃ taccaturvidhaṃ
kāraṇāddviṣṭhakāryādibhedenodāhṛtaṃ purā
yathā ṣoḍaśabhedaṃ syāt dvāviṃśātividhaṃ tataḥ
liṃgaṃ samuditaṃ jñeyamanyathānupapattimat
tathā bhūtamabhūtasyāpyūhyamanyadapīdṛśaṃ
abhūtaṃ bhūtamunnītaṃ bhūtasyānekadhā budhaiḥ
tathā 'bhūtamabhūtasya yathāyogyamudāharet
bahudhāpyevamākhyātaṃ saṃkṣepeṇa caturvidhaṃ
atisaṃkṣepato dvedhopalaṃbhānupalaṃbhabhṛt
etena kāryasvabhāvānupalaṃbhavikalpāt trividhameva liṃgamiti niyamaḥ pratyākhyātaḥ sahacarāderliṃgāṃtaratvāt
pratyakṣapūrvakaṃ trividhamanumānaṃpūrvavaccheṣavatsāmānyatodṛṣṭamityapi yadi pūrvavaccheṣavat kevalānvayi pūrvavatsāmānya
todṛṣṭaṃ kevalavyatireki pūrvavaccheṣavatsāmānyatodṛṣṭamanvayavyatireki vyākhyāyate trisūtrīkaraṇādasya sūtrasya tadā na
kiṃcidviruddhaṃ nigaditaliṃgaprakāreṣu trividhasyāpi saṃbhavāt yathopapattiniyamātkevalānvayino gamakatvāvirodhāt
tatra vaidharmyadṛṣṭāṃtābhāve'pi sādhyāvinābhāvaniyamaniścayāt atha pūrvavatkāraṇātkāryānumānaṃ śeṣavat kāryā
tkāraṇānumānaṃ sāmānyato dṛṣṭaṃ akāryakāraṇādakāryakāraṇānumānaṃ sāmānyato'vinābhāvamātrāditi vyākhyāyate
tadāpi syādvādināmabhimatameva tathā sarvahetuprakārasaṃgrahasya saṃkṣepataḥ pratipādanāt yadāpi pūrvavatpūrvaliṃga
liṃgisaṃbaṃdhasya kvacinniścayādanyatra pūrvavadvartamānaṃ śeṣavatpariśeṣānumānaṃ prasaktapratiṣedhe pariśiṣṭasya pratipatteḥ
sāmānyato dṛṣṭaṃ viśiṣṭavyaktau saṃbaṃdhāgrahaṇātsāmānyena dṛṣṭaṃ yathā gatimānādityaḥ deśāddeśāṃtaraprāpteḥ devada
ttavaditi vyākhyā vidhīyate tadāpi syādvādināṃ nānavadheyaṃ pratipāditahetuprapaṃcasyaiva viśeṣaprakāśanāt
sarvaṃ hi liṃgaṃ pūrvavadeva pariśeṣānumānasyāpi pūrvavattvasiddheḥ prasaktapratiṣedhasya pariśiṣṭapratipattyavinābhūtasya
pūrvaṃ kvacinniścitasya vivādādhyāsitapariśiṣṭapratipattau sādhanasya prayogāt sāmānyatodṛṣṭasya ca pūrvavattva
pratīteḥ kvaciddeśāṃtaraprāpteḥ gatimatyavinābhāvinyā eva devadattādau pratipatteranyathā tadanumānāpravṛtteḥ
pariśeṣānumānameva vā sarvaṃ saṃpratīyate pūrvavato'pi dhūmātpāvakānumānasya prasaktau pāvakapratiṣedhāt pravṛttighaṭanāt
tadapratipattau vivādānupapatteranumānavaiyarthyāt tathā sāmānyatodṛṣṭasyāpi deśāṃtaraprāpterādityagatyanumānasya
tadagatimattvasya prasaktasya pratiṣedhādupapatteriti sakalaṃ sāmānyatodṛṣṭameva vā sarvatra sāmānyenaiva liṃgaliṃgi
saṃbaṃdhapratipatterviśeṣatastatsaṃbaṃdhasya pratipattumaśakteḥ kena cidviśeṣeṇa liṃgabhedakalpanā na nivāryate eva
prakārāṃtaratastadbhedakalpanāvat kevalamanyathānupapannatvaniyamaniścaya eva hetoḥ prayojakatvanimittaṃ tasmin
sati hetuprakārabhedaparikalpanāyāḥ pratipatturabhiprāyavaicitryāt vaicitryaṃ nānyatheti suniścitaṃ naścetasi tathā
pratīterabādhyamānatvāt yadāpiavītaṃ vītaṃ vītāvītamiti liṃgaṃ trividhamanumanyate tadāpi nānyathānupapannatva
niyamaniścayalakṣaṇamatikramya vyavatiṣṭhate nāpi pratipāditahetuprapaṃcabahirbhūtaṃ samayāṃtarabhāṣayā kevalānvayyādi
trayasyaiva tathāvidhānāt kvacitsādhyasādhanadharmayoḥ sāhacaryamavinābhāvaniyamalakṣaṇamupalabhyānyatra sādhanadharma
darśanāt sādhyadharmapratipattirāvītamucyate yathā guṇāguṇinau parasparaṃ bhinnau bhinnapratyayaviṣayatvāt ghaṭapaṭava
dīti tacca kevalānvayīṣyate kathaṃcidbhedaeva sādhye 'nyathānupapannatvasiddheḥ sarvathā bhede guṇaguṇibhāvavirodhāt
gamakatvāsiddheḥ tathā kvacidekasya dharmasya vyāvṛttau parasya dharmasya vyāvṛttiṃ niyamavatīmupalabhyānyatra
taddharmasya niścayāt sādhyasiddhirvītaṃ kathyate yathā sātmakaṃ jīvaccharīraṃ prāṇādimattvāt iti tadidaṃ kevala
vyatirekīṣṭhaṃ pariṇāminātmanā sātmakatvavyāvṛttau bhasmani prāṇādimattvavyāvṛttiniyamaniścayāt niranvaya
kṣaṇikacittavat kūṭasthenātmanā prāṇādyarthakriyāniṣpādanavirodhāt vītāvitaṃ tu tadubhayalakṣaṇayogādanva
yavyatireki dhūmādeḥ pāvakādyanumānaṃ prasiddhameveti na hetvaṃtaramasti tataḥ sūktaṃ anyathānupapattiniyamaniścaya
lakṣaṇaṃ sādhanaṃ atisaṃkṣepavistarato'bhihitasya sakalasādhanaviśeṣasya tena vyāptatvāt tathāvidhalakṣaṇātsā
dhanāt sādhye sādhayituṃ śakye abhiprete kvacidaprasiddhe ca vijñānamanumānamiti sādhayitumaśakye sarvathaikāṃte
sādhanasyāpravṛtteḥ tatra tasya viruddhatvāt svayamanabhiprete cātiprasaṃgāt prasiddhe ca vaiyarthyāt tasya sādhyābhāsattva
prasiddheḥ pratyakṣādiviruddhasyāniṣṭasya suprasiddhasya ca sādhanāviṣayatvaniścayāt
taduktaṃ akalaṃkadevaiḥ
sādhyaṃ śakyamabhipretemaprasiddhaṃ tato'pare
sādhyābhāsaṃ viruddhādi sādhanāviṣayatvataḥ
tadetsādhanāt sādhyavijñānamanumānaṃ svārthamabhinibodhalakṣaṇaṃ viśiṣṭamatijñānaṃ sādhyaṃ pratyabhimukhānnitthami
tātsādhanādupajātabodhasya tarkaphalasyābhinibodha iti saṃjñāpratipādanāt parārthamanumānamanakṣaraśrutajñānaṃ
akṣaraśrutajñānaṃ ca tasya śrotramatipūrvakasya ca tathātvopapatteḥ śabdātmakaṃ tu parārthānumānamayuktaṃ śabdasya
pratyavamarśino'pi sarvasya dravyāgamarūpatvapratīteḥ kathamanyathā pratyakṣamapi śabdātmakaṃ parārthaṃ na bhavet sarvathā
viśeṣābhāvāt pratipādakapratipādyajanayoḥ svaparārthānumānakāryakāraṇatvasiddherupacārādanumānaparāmarśino
vākyasya parārthānumānatvapratipādanamaviruddhaṃ nānyathātiprasaṃgāditi boddhavyaṃ tadetparokṣaṃ pramāṇamaviśadatvāt
śrutajñānavat
kiṃ punaḥ śrutajñānamityetadabhidhīyate śrutajñānāvaraṇavīryāṃtarāyakṣayopaśamaviśeṣāṃtaraṃge kāraṇe sati
bahiraṃge matijñāne ca aniṃdriyaviṣayālaṃbanaṃ aviśadaṃ jñānaṃ śrutajñānaṃ kevalajñānaṃ tīrthakaratvanāmapuṇyāti
śayodayanimittakabhagavattīrthakaradhvaniviśeṣādutpannaṃ gaṇadharadevaśrutajñānamevamasaṃgṛhītaṃ syāditi na śaṃkanīyaṃ
tasyāpi śrotramatipūrvakatvāt prasiddhamatiśrutāvadhimanaḥparyayajñānāni vacanajanitapratipādyajanavacanaśrutajñā
navat samudraghoṣajaladharasvanaśrutijanitatadavinābhāvipadārthaviṣayaśrutajñānavadvā tato niravadyaṃ śrutajñānalakṣaṇaṃ
avyāptyativyāptyasaṃbhavadoṣarahitatvāt anumānalakṣaṇavat tadevaṃvidhaṃ śrutajñānaṃ pramāṇamavisaṃvādakatvāt
pratyakṣānumānavat nacāsiddhamavisaṃvādakatvamasyeti śaṃkitavyaṃ tato'rthaṃ paricchidya pravartamānasya visaṃvādā
bhāvāt sarvadā'rthakriyāyāṃ saṃvādaprasiddheḥ pratyakṣādivat
nanu ca śrotramatipūrvakaśrutajñānādarthaṃ pratipadya vartamānasyārthakriyāyāmavisaṃvādakasya kvacidabhāvāt na
prāmāṇyaṃ sarvatrānāśvāsāditi cet na pratyakṣāderapi śuktikāśakalaṃ rajatākāratayā paricchidya tatra pravarta
mānasyārthakriyāyāṃ rajatasādhyāyāmavisaṃvādavirahāt sarvatra pratyakṣe'nāśvāsādaprāmāṇyaprasaṃgāt pratyakṣābhāse
visaṃvādadarśanānna pratyakṣe'nāśvāso'numānavaditi cettarhi śrutajñānābhāsādvisaṃvādaprasiddheḥ satyaśrutajñāne kathama
nāśvāsaḥ naca satyaṃ śrutajñānamasiddhaṃ tasya loke prasiddhatvāt suyuktikasadbhāvācca tathāhi śrotramatipūrvakaṃ śrutajñānaṃ
prakṛtaṃ satyameva aduṣṭakāraṇajanyatvāt pratyakṣādivat taddvividhaṃ sarvajñāsarvajñavacanaśravaṇanimittatvāt taccobha
yamaduṣṭakāraṇajanyaṃ guṇavādvaktṛkaśabdajanitatvāt
nanu ca nadyāstīre modakarāśayaḥ saṃtīti prahasanena guṇavadvaktṛkaśabdādupajanitasyāpi śrutajñānasyāsa
tyatvasiddhervyabhicāriguṇavadvaktṛkaśabdajanitatvamaduṣṭakāraṇajanyatve sādhye tato na tattadgamakamiti na maṃtavyaṃ
prahasanaparasya vakturguṇavattvāsiddheḥ prahasanasyaiva doṣatvādajñānādivat kathaṃ punarvivādāpannasya śrotramatipūrvaka
śrutajñānastha guṇavadvaktṛkaśabdajanitatvaṃ siddhaṃ iti cet suniśacitāsaṃbhavadbādhakatvāditi bhāṣāmahe
pratyakṣe hyarthe pratyakṣasyānumeye'numānasyāṃtyaṃtaparokṣe cāgamasya bādhakasyāsaṃbhavāt asaṃbhavadbādhakatvaṃ tasya siddhaṃ
deśakālapuruṣāṃtarāpekṣayāpi saṃśayānutpatteḥ suniścitatvaviśeṣaṇamapi sādhanasyeti nāsiddhatāśaṃkāvatarati
nāpyenaikāṃtikatā vipakṣe kvacidasaṃbhavāt na viruddhatā suniścitāsaṃbhavadbādhakasya śrutajñānasya aguṇavadvaktṛka
śabdajanitasya vādiprativādiprasiddhasyāsaṃbhāvyamānatvāt tathā vyāhatatvācca kathaṃcidapauruṣeyaśabdajanita
śrutajñānasya tu guṇavadvaktṛkaśabdajanitatvenāduṣṭakāraṇajanyatvaṃ siddhyet tataśca satyatvamiti syādvādināṃ
sarvamanavadyaṃ paryāyārthikanayaprādhānyāt dravyārthikanayaguṇabhāvācca śrutajñānasya guṇavadvaktṛkaśabdajanitatva
siddheḥ dravyārthikaprādhānyātparyāyārthikaguṇabhāvācca guṇavadvyākhyātṛkaśabdajanitatvopapatteśca naca sarvathā
pauruṣeyaḥśabdo'pauruṣeyo vā pramāṇataḥ siddhyate
nanu ca vivādāpannaḥ śabdaḥ pauruṣeya eva prayatnānaṃtarīyakatvāt paṭādivadityanumānāt āgamasya dvāda
śāṃgasyāṃgabāhyasya cānekabhedasya pauruṣeyatvameva yuktaṃ bhāratādivaditi kaścit so'pyevaṃ pṛṣṭaḥ sannācaṣṭāṃkiṃ
sarvathā prayatnāṃtarīyatvahetuḥ kathaṃcidvā sarvathā cet aprasiddhaḥ syādvādino dravyārthādiprayatnāṃnaṃtarīyakatvādā
gamasya kathaṃciccedviruddhaḥ kathaṃcidapauruṣayatvasādhanāt prayatnānaṃtarīyakatvaṃ hi pravacanasyoccārakapuruṣa
prayatnānaṃtaropalaṃbhāt syāt utpādakapuruṣaprayatnāṃnaṃtaropalaṃbhādvā prathamakalpanāyāmuccārakapuruṣāpekṣayā pauru
ṣeyatvameva tasya saṃprati purāṇapuruṣotpāditakāvyaprabaṃdhasyeva prasaktaṃ na punarutpādakapuruṣāpekṣayā pravacanasyānā
dinidhanasyotpādakapuruṣābhāvāt sarvajña utpādaka iti cet varṇātmanaḥ padavākyātmano vā pravacanasyo
tpādakaḥ sa syāt na tāvadvarṇātmanastadvarṇānāṃ prāgapi bhāvāt tatsadṛśānāṃ pūrvaṃ bhāvo na punasteṣāṃ ghaṭādī
nāmiveti cet kathamidānīmanuvādakasteṣāmutpādako na syāt tadanuvādāt prāgapi tatsadṛśānāmeva
sadbhāvāt teṣāmanūdyamānānāṃ tadaiva sadbhāvāt tathāca na kaścidutpādako varṇānāṃ sarvasyotpādakatvasiddheḥ
yathaiva hi kuṃbhādīnāṃ kuṃbhakārādirutpādaka eva na punaranukārakastathā varṇānāmapīti tadanuvādakavyavahāravirodhaḥ
pūrvopalabdhavarṇānāṃ sāṃpratikavarṇānāṃ ca sādṛśyādeketvopacārātpaścādvādako'nuvādaka eva asāvāha varṇānnā
hamiti svātaṃtryapariharaṇātpārataṃtryānusaraṇāditi cet tarhi yathā varṇānāṃ paṭhitānuvādakaḥ tathā pāṭhayitāpi
tasyāpi svātaṃtryābhāvāt sarvasya svopādhyāyaparataṃtratvāt tata evaṃ vaktavyaṃ
neha varṇānnaraḥ kaścit svātaṃtryeṇa prapadyate
yathaivāsmai parairuktāstathaivaitānvivakṣyate
parepyevaṃ vivakṣyaṃti tasmādeṣāmanāditā
prasiddhā vyavahāreṇa saṃpradāyāvyavacchidā
tathā ca sarvajñopyanuvādaka eva pūrvapūrvasarvajñoditānāmeva catuḥṣaṣṭivarṇānāmuttarottarasarvajñenānuvādāt
tasya pūrvasarvajñoditavarṇānupalaṃbhe punarasarvajñatvaprasaktiḥ tadevamanādisarvajñasaṃtatimicchatāṃ na kaścitsarvajño
varṇānāmutpādakastasya tadanuvādakatvāt padavākyātmanaḥ pravacanasyotpādakaḥ sarvajña ityapyanenāpāstaṃ prava
canapadavākyānāmapi pūrvapūrvasarvajñoditānāmevottarottarasarvajñenānuvādāt sarvadāṃgapraviṣṭāṃgabāhyaśrutasya śabdā
tmano dvādaśavikalpānekavikalpasyānyādṛśavarṇapadavākyatvāsaṃbhavāt tasyāpūrvasyotpādakāyogāt
syānmataṃ maheśvaro'nādirekaḥ sarvajño varṇānāmutpādakaḥ prathamaṃ sṛṣṭikāle jagatāmivopapannastasya
sarvadā svataṃtratvāt sarvajñāṃtaraparataṃtratāpāyāt tadanuvādakatvāyogāditi tadapyasatyaṃ tasyānāderekasyeśvarasyā
ptaparīkṣāyāṃ pratikṣiptatvāt parīkṣākṣamatvābhāvāt kapilādivat saṃbhave vā sadaivaiśvaraḥ sarvajño brāhmeṇa mānena
varṣāśatāṃte varṣaśatāṃte jagato sṛṣṭā pūrvasmin pūrvasmin sṛṣṭikāle svayamutpāditānāṃ varṇapadavākyānāmuttara
sminnuttarasmin sṛṣṭikāle punarupadeṣṭā kathamanuvādako na bhavet na hyekaḥ kaviḥ svakṛtakāvyasya punaḥ
punarvaktānuvādako na syāt iti vaktuṃ yuktaṃ
śabdārthayoḥ punarvacanaṃ punaruktam anyatrānuvādāt
iti vacanavirodhāt ekasya punaḥ punastadeva vadato'nuvādāsaṃbhave punaruktasyaiva siddheḥ tataḥ kasya
citsvayaṃ kṛtaṃ kāvyaṃ punaḥ punarvadato'nuvādakatve maheśvaraḥ sarvadaivānuvādakaḥ syāt pūrvapūrvavādāpekṣayottaro
ttarasyānuvādarūpatvāt naca pūrvapūrvavarṇapadavākyavilakṣaṇānyeva varṇapadavākyāni maheśvaraḥ karoti iti ghaṭate
teṣāṃ kutaścitpramāṇādaprasiddheḥ prasiddhau vā teṣāṃ kimajñānāttadā maheśvaro'praṇetā syāt athāśakterutaprayo
janābhāvāditi na tāvadajñānāt sarvajñatvavirodhāt tasya sarvaprakāravarṇapadavākyavedityasiddheḥ anyathānī
śvaratvaprasaṃgāt nāpyaśakteḥīśvarasyānaṃtaśaktitvavacanāt yadi hyekadā kāni cideva varṇādīni praṇetumīśva
rasya śaktirnānyāni tadā kathamanaṃtaśaktiḥ syādanīśavat prayojanābhāvānnānyāni praṇayatīti cet na saka
lavācakaprakāśanasyaiva prayojanatvāt sakalavācyārthaprakāśanavat sakalajagatkāraṇavadvā pratipādyajanānu
rodhāt keṣāṃ cideva varṇādīnāṃ praṇayane jagadupabhoktṛprāṇyanurodhāt keṣāṃcideva jagatkāryāṇāṃ karaṇaṃ syā
nna sarveṣāṃ tathā ceśvarakṛtaiḥ kāryaiḥ kāryatvāditi heturvyabhicāritvānna sarvakāryāṇāmīśvaranimittatvaṃ sādhayet
naca sakalaprakāravarṇādivācakaprapaṃcaṃ jijñāsamānaḥ kaścitpratipādya eva na saṃbhavatīti vaktuṃ yuktaṃ sarvajñavacana
syāpratigrāhakatvaprasaṃgāt tatsaṃbhave ca sarge sarge sakalavarṇādīnāṃ praṇeteśvaro'nuvādaka eva syāt na puna
rutpādakaḥ sarvadaiveti siddhaṃ tato'neka eva sarvajño'stu kimekeśvarasya kalpanayā yathā caiko navamiti vadati
tadevānyaḥ purāṇamityanekasarvajñakalpanāyāṃ vyāghātāt vastuvyavasthānāsaṃbhavastathaikasyāpīśvarasyānekasarga
kālapravṛttāvanekopadeśābhyanujñānāt tatra pūrvasmin sarge navamityupadeśīśvareṇa tadevottarasmin sarge purāṇa
mityupadiśyate na punarekadaiva navaṃ pūrāṇaṃ caikamiti vyāghātāsaṃbhave kathamanekasyāpi sarvajñasya kālabhedena nava
miti purāṇamityupadeśatastattvavacanavyāghātaḥ ityalamanādyekeśvarakalpanayā tatsādhanopāyāsaṃbhavāt
sopāyasiddhastu sarvajño'nekaḥ pramāṇasiddhaḥ niratakālocchannasya paramāgamasya pravaṃdhenābhivyaṃjako'nu
vādaka iti prayatnānaṃtaramabhivyakteḥ kathaṃ citprayatnānaṃtarīyakatvaṃ kathaṃcitpauruṣeyatvaṃ sādhayettathāhi
paramāgamasaṃtānamanādinidhanakramaṃ notpādayetsvayaṃ kaścitsarvajño'sarvavedivat
yathaikaḥ sakalārthajñaḥ svamahimnā prakāśayet tathānyo'pi tameva cānādiḥ sarvajñasaṃtatiḥ
siddhā tatproktaśabdotthaṃ śrutajñānamaśeṣataḥ pramāṇaṃ pratipattavyamaduṣṭopāyajatvataḥ
tato bāhyaṃ pūnardvedhā pauruṣeyapadakramāt jātamārṣādanārṣācca samāsavyāsatonvitāt
tatrārṣamṛṣibhiḥ proktādaduṣṭairvacanakramāt samudbhūtaṃ śrutajñānaṃ pramāṇaṃ bādhakātyayāt
anārṣaṃ tu dvidhoddiṣṭaṃ samayāṃtarasaṃgataṃ laukikaṃ ceti tanmithyā pravādivacanodbhavaṃ
duṣṭakāraṇajanyatvādapramāṇaṃ kathaṃ ca na samyagdṛṣṭestadetatsyāt pramāṇaṃ sunayārpaṇāt
nanvaduṣṭakāraṇajanyatvena śrutajñānasya pramāṇatvasādhane codanājñānasya prāmāṇyaṃ syāt puruṣadoṣarahitā
yāścodanāyāḥ sarvathāpyapauruṣeyajanitatvāt

patteḥ na hi liṃgasyāpauruṣeyatvamaduṣṭaṃ sādhyāvinābhāvaniyamaniścayākhyena guṇena guṇavattvasyāduṣṭatvasya pratī
teḥ tathāprokteravisaṃvādakatvaguṇena guṇavattvasya tathākṣāṇāṃ cakṣurādīnāṃ nairmalyādiguṇena guṇavattvasyeti
nanu cāduṣṭatvaṃ doṣarahitatvaṃ kāraṇasya tacca kvaciddoṣaviruddhasya guṇasya sadbhāvāt tathā manvādismṛ
tivacane kvaciddoṣakāraṇabhāvāt yathā codanāyāṃ taduktaṃ
śabde doṣodbhavastāvadvaktradhīnamiti sthitaṃ
tadabhāvaḥ kvacittāvadguṇavadvaktṛkatvataḥ
tadguṇairapakṛṣṭānāṃ śabde saṃkrāṃtyasaṃbhavāt
yadvā vakturabhāvena na syurdoṣā nirāśrayāḥ
tadapyasaraṃ sarvatra guṇābhāvasyaiva doṣavattvāt guṇasadbhāvasyaiva cādoṣapratīterabhāvasya bhāvāṃtarasvabhāva
tvasiddheḥ anyathā pramāṇaviṣayatvavirodhāt guṇavadvaktṛkatvasya hi doṣarahitasya vaktṛkatvasya saṃpratyayaḥ kathama
nyathā guṇadoṣayoḥ sahānavasthānaṃ yujyeta rāgadveṣamohādivakturdoṣāvitathābhidhānahetavaḥ tadviruddhāśca vairā
gyakṣamātattvāvabodhāstadabhāvātmakāḥ satyābhidhānahetavo guṇā iti parīkṣakajanamanasi vartate naca manvādayaḥ
smṛtiśāstrāṇāṃ praṇetāro guṇavaṃtasteṣāṃ tādṛśaguṇābhāvāt nirdoṣavedaparādhīnavacanatvātteṣāṃ guṇavattvamitya
pyasaṃbhāvanīyaṃ vedasya guṇavattvāsiddheḥ puruṣasya guṇāśrayasyābhāvāt yathaiva hi doṣavān vedānnivartamāno
nirdoṣatāmasya sādhayet tathāsau guṇavānapiaguṇavattāmiti na vedo guṇavānnāma yadi punarapauruṣeyatvameva
guṇastadānādimlecchavyavahārasyāpi guṇavattvaṃapauruṣeyatvāviśeṣāt
tadevaṃ
nāduṣṭā codanā puṃso'sattvādguṇavataḥ sadā
tadvyākhyātuḥ pravakturvā mlekṣādivyavahāravat
tayā yajjanitaṃ jñānaṃ tannāduṣṭanimittajaṃ
siddhaṃ yena pramāṇaṃ syāt paramāgamabodhavat
vedasya poruṣeyasyocchinnasya cirakālataḥ
sarvajñena vinā kaścinnoddhartātīṃdriyārthadṛk
syādvādināṃ tu sarvajñasaṃtānaḥ syātprakāśakaḥ
paramāgamasaṃtānasyocchinnasya kathaṃcana
sarvabhāṣākubhāṣāśca tadvatsarvārthavedibhiḥ
prakāśyate dhvanisteṣāṃ sarvabhāṣāsvabhāvakaḥ
tatpramāṇaṃ śrutajñānaṃ parokṣaṃ siddhamaṃjasā
aduṣṭakāraṇodbhūteḥ pratyakṣavaditi sthitaṃ
tataḥ sūktaṃ pratyakṣaṃ parokṣaṃ ceti dve eva pramāṇe pramāṇāṃtarāṇāṃ sakalānāmapyatra saṃgrahāt iti saṃkhyā
vipratipattinirākaraṇamanavadyaṃ svarūpavipratipattinirākaraṇavat
viṣayavipratipattinirākaraṇārthaṃ punaridamabhidhīyate dravyaparyāyātmakaḥ pramāṇāviṣayaḥ pramāṇaviṣayatvānya
thānupapatteḥ pratyakṣaviṣayeṇa svalakṣaṇena anumānādiviṣayeṇa ca sāmānyena hetorvyabhicāra iti na maṃtavyaṃ
tathāpratītyabhāvāt na hi pratyakṣataḥ svalakṣaṇaṃ paryāyamātraṃ sanmātramivopalabhāmahe nāpyanumānādeḥ sāmā
nyadravyamātraṃ viśeṣamātramiva pratipadyemahi sāmānyaviśeṣātmano dravyaparyāyātmakasya jātyaṃtarasyopalabdheḥ
pravartamānasya ca tatprāpteḥ anyathārthakriyānupapatteḥ na hi svalakṣaṇamarthakriyāsamarthaṃ kramayaugapadyavirodhāt
sāmānyavat naca tatra kramayaugapadye saṃbhavataḥ pariṇāmābhāvāt kramākramayoḥ pariṇāmena vyāptatvāt sarva
thāpyapariṇāminaḥ kṣaṇikasya nityasya ca tadvirodhasiddheḥ prasiddhe ca sāmānyaviśeṣātmani vastuni tadaṃśamātre
viśeṣe sāmānye vā pravarttamānaṃ kathaṃ pramāṇaṃ nāma pramāṇasya yathāvastitavastugrahaṇalakṣaṇatvāt tadekadeśagrā
hiṇaḥ sāpekṣasya sunayatvānnirapekṣasya durṇayatvāt tata eva na tadviṣayeṇānekāṃtaḥ sādhanasya syāt tatra
pramāṇaviṣayatvasya hetorapravṛtteḥ ataḥsiddho dravyaparyāyātmārthaḥ pramāṇasyeti tadvipratipattinivṛttiḥ
phalavipratipattinivṛttyarthaṃ pratipādyatepramāṇātphalaṃ kathaṃcidbhinnamabhinnaṃ ca pramāṇaphalatvānyathānupapatteḥ
hānopādonopekṣābuddhirūpeṇa pramāṇaphalenānekāṃta iti na śaṃkanīyaṃ tasyāpyekapramātrātmanā pramāṇādabheda
siddheḥ pramāṇapariṇatasyaivātmanaḥ phalapariṇāmapratīteḥ anyathā saṃtānāṃtaravatpramāṇaphalabhāvavirodhāt sākṣā
dajñānanivṛttilakṣaṇena pramāṇādabhinnena pramāṇaphalena vyabhicāra ityapyaparīkṣitābhidhānaṃ tasyāpi kathaṃcitpra
māṇādbhedaprasiddheḥ pramāṇaphalayorniruktisādhanavirodhāt karaṇasādhanaṃ hi pramāṇaṃ svārthanirṇītau sādhakatama
tvāt svārthanirṇītirajñānanivṛttiḥ phalaṃ bhāvasādhanaṃ tatsādhyatvāt etena kartṛsādhanāt pramāṇātkathaṃci
dbhedaḥ pratipāditaḥ tasya svārthanirṇītau svataṃtratvāt svataṃtrasya ca kartṛtvāt svārthanirṇītestu ajñānanivṛtti
svabhāvāyāḥ kriyātvāt naca kriyākriyāvato'rthāṃtaramevānarthāṃtarameva vā kriyākriyāvadbhāvavirodhāt bhāva
sādhanātpramāṇādajñānanivṛttirabhinnaiveti ayuktaṃ pramāturudāsīnāvasthāyāmavyāpriyamāṇasya pramāṇaśakterbhāvasādhana
pramāṇasya vyavasthāpitatvāt tasyājñānanivṛttiphalatvāsaṃbhavāt svārthavyavasitau vyāpriyamāṇaṃ hi pramāṇama
jñānanivṛttiṃ sādhayet nānyathā atiprasaṃgāt tataḥ sūktaṃ
pramāṇātkathaṃcidbhinnābhinnaṃ phalamiti
tatastasya sarvathā bhede bādhakavacanāt abhedavatsaṃvṛtyā pramāṇaphalavyavahāra ityaprātītikavacanaṃ
paramārthataḥ sveṣṭasiddhivirodhāt tataḥ pāramārthikapramāṇaṃ phalaṃ ceṣṭasiddhilaṇamabhyanujñātavyaṃ tataḥsarvapuruṣārtha
siddhividhānāditi saṃkṣepaḥ
iti pramāṇasya parīkṣya lakṣaṇaṃ viśeṣasaṃkhyāviṣayaṃ phalaṃ tataḥ
prabudhya tattvaṃ dṛḍhaśuddhadṛṣṭayaḥ prayāṃtu vidyāphalamiṣṭamuccakaiḥ
iti śrīsyādvādavidyāpatiśrīvidyānaṃdasvāmiviracitā pramāṇaparīkṣā samāptā
